ok, so im standing at a light, i look in my rear view and theres like 3 cars behind me, cool enough ... then i start fidling with my player to get my song on, and i feel a good little nudge from behind ...
the stupid guy in the brand new merc behind me decided he couldnt keep his foot on the brake any longer ... the lights still red .... wtf ... i go out and check for scratches ... dont see ANYTHING .... i stood there for a good 5 minutes inspecting my car while all the people behind me honked ... to hell with them ... my TW is more important... so he's a guy in his 40's i guess ... behaved real nice .... and stood there while i did my stuff .... had i seen one single mark, i would have kicked him in the face .... anyway, he says "theres nothing there" ... and after a LOT of inspecting i say "the scratches wont show in this light if there are any" so he says you can have my number and blahh blahhh ... ok i do so ... still look to find SOMETHING on my car.... nothing ! now this morning, after washing i find two small star shaped markings (his license plate bolts) and now im mad there like real real small, something you can only see when your about half a foot away from the car, but there still there ...... i was a bit mad at myself for not finding them at the moment but i guess you have to look at the right spot at the right angle ....so, my question ... am i being too paranoid ? should i live with it and accept that with a car on the road such small things would happen, or should i call him up and get some compensation ..... i know he's not obligated to pay or anything ... or is he ??? i have his plate number and name ... any advice ? /rant |

actually.. his insurance is obligated to pay if you decide that there is enough damages to go through with insurance.. a stupid jsihfisodfsio like that did the same thing to me.. except.. it was OBVIOUS there was damage to my car.. a cracked bumper.. one chunk ripped out.. smashed up bumper.. ding on trunk.. so obviously i filed a claim with my insurance and his.. the estimates i got from three places were around $1500 so yeahh..he's paying for everything.. so if you decide that you want a new bumper.. (if there is enough damage aka a crack) or at least to get it buffed out or repaired.. then yeah.. call him or report it to insurance
Edit: OR.. you can do it under the table and just get money from him if you don't want to go through insurance.. probably better on his end.. because its a small blemish.. and no.. you're not being paranoid.. if you're anything like me.. you get pissed off at rock chips.. which thankfully.. i only have two.. but anywhere else besides the front end of the car.. there is NOTHING.. no door dings.. no chips.. no dents.. cuz i take REALLY good care of my car and am paranoid about everything.. |

Let it go. Had the guy been an ass, I would say fight to get him to fix it, but literally, even if he was, it's so minor, I can't imagine the insurence company taking the bullet and fixing a screw-hole indent.
I have one of these as well from having someone kiss my car's ass while parallel parking. You can't even tell unless your nose is pressed against it, and it just kissed the paint, didn't scratch or cause damage. I know it sucks, but let it go. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal. And I am the most anal person you will ever meet when it comes to my car, but even I can't fathom doing anything more than being pissed in this situation. |

i feel ur pain, believe me. but this guy will prob ignore you personally and make u got through insurance which will be a hassel, and then as stated above what will they do to fix it. i personally just found a scratch on my nhbp, and i've already sent her to the shop to have them fix one, and i have just resided myself to the fact that nothing is ever gonna be perfect on a daily driver especially with honda paint : (. ur call but unless its really noticable on the top of the bumper, just try and live with it.....or just stop short one day and make someone crack ur bumper (kidding, bad idea)

I would go to a place and see how much it would cost to have it repainted. Then i would get a check from the guy. It wont be much and he did cause it so there is no reason why he shouldnt pay for it. i am anal about every scratch on my car and if someone hits me even if noone can see it, I STILL CAN, so i fix it and they pay for it...... you should get an estimate and give the guy a call. Im sure it wont be anything over like 200 bucks or something you can just touch up yourself with paint.

Theoretically . . . you really don't know that these marks were made by that guy - not that I'm saying they weren't mind, just if they are that hard to see, you might consider yourself holding a glass half full rather than one half empty.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be annoyed it it were my car, but at least he didn't plow into you at 30mph and destroy the entire back end, and like someone already said, he seemed reasonable about it. That alone is worth something if you believe in Karma. Actually a similar thing happened to me once and when I got out to look at it I told the guy "at least no damage was done" he said "you rolled into me". IIRC I was in an automatic, but because I was 'otherwise engaged', I really have no idea if I did or not. (and I'm not saying you did this). So yes, annoying, but it could have been a lot worse and when you get that forst door ding, it'll hurt a lot less :) |

i'll post pics soon ... the only thing thats stopping me from calling him and ranting is how nice he behaved at the time ...
anyway, even if i do call him, idk if he's obligated to pay since i didnt report the incident then and there, right ? i mean, he can simply deny it .... or am i missing something here ? |
