Just dress nice and goto court and since its your first you can probably just take the driving class and or do community service and your insurance will be fine... I'm 22 with a 86 in a 65 and a 55 in a 45 and i am paying 1200 every 6th months for 50/100/50 so yours probably would go up to much more if you didn't take the class and all that....but its definitely worth it to go to try and take the class |

You'll get a letter and it'll let you check the option of paying bail and attending traffic school. You can go to court to get your fine reduced, from my experience I had a 150ish dollar ticket and it got reduced to about 80. Traffic school will probably cost you another 20 or 30 bucks, when you're in court ask the judge for a list of traffic schools and preferably online traffic courses. If you physically attend traffic school you're due for about 8 hours, online, roughly 30 min.

well in cali if you go to night court they go easier on you. i just went to court for my first ticket. i was doing 95 or so in a 65, but the chp officer put 85 so i could go to traffic school. all im paying is 100 to the court and whatever traffic school cost. that way it doesnt go on my record and my insurance wont go up

Is taking the class in driving school is the same as taking a defensive driving course? If it is, then it is a good idea to take it anyway, even if you don't have tickets. Cost's you only 30-40 bucks, but your insurance premium gets 15% discount. Postponing the court date wont get you anywhere, IMO. You think the cop comes to the court just especially for you? And if you don't show up, he will be like "damn, I'm not gonna come next time". They reschedule those dates whenever cops are available, and when cops come, they have 10 of you's lined up. Since you are young and probably have lotsa free time, I would go to court and try my luck. Sometimes they reduce fines, sometimes they leave the fine, but cancel points. Both are acceptable IMO. When you get a couple of more tickets like that, go through court procedures, that will teach you not to speed, trust me.
As far as I know, most driving schools offer these courses. All you gotta do is call them up, schedule yourself for a class, get a certificate at the end of it. Then call your ins and tell them you took this class. Last edited by xxhaimbondxx; 04-03-2007 at 07:31 PM. |
