06 SI 10k Review

I just turned 10k miles on my GG 06 SI and wanted to share my thoughts...At 38, I'm still amazed that I get that 'kid at heart' feeling every time I jump into her. This has been an awesome car with very minor issues...Issue 1. DBW was at first a pain but I'm used to it (much better after ECU reflash but still there a little bit). 2. Oil leak at the lower timing chain cover plate. 3. Subwoofer shroud rattle. 4. Front HFP under spoiler came loose from body on right fender.
With that said, the car has simply been a joy to drive...The manual Tranny is wonderful (I have not had any issues with grinding etc...Some owners have reported this on there SI's). I have consistently had 23 +-1 MPG city and 33 +-2 highway on 93 octane gas. I have not changed any bulbs since day 1. I had only 1 minor paint chip on the front hood from a kicked up rock that I quickly fixed with touch-up. The finish is still in the extreme shine category (I wax her every month or so) . Interior wise I have had no issues...the cloth seats are still in day 1 condition...Minor issue with scuffs on bottom of door panels. Stereo works just fine. The 'new car smell' is still there..lol...back seats have never been sat in. Changed my oil at 3500 miles to Mobile 1 Synthetic..Because of the minor oil leak I thought that I was burning oil at a somewhat faster pace but after dealer fixed it all is well now...Overall I expect that this baby will perform as good if not better than my past honda's...Not only that, it will have a great resale value if (probably not) I ever sell it. For now, I'm very pleased with this car as my smile right now can attest. :)

I recently ran my EX Coupe over the 10k mark and have been in love with the car all the way. Only thing I've had a problem with was the subwoofer shroud does rattle, but a little foam weather strip takes care of that...also might be the rear deck on the interior as well as the head liner..I padded where each location meets the body...no more rattle...and went from OEM lights to Silverstars..and now to the best HIDs around

good to hear!

just a little FYI, since you dont intent to let her go, dont forget to clean under the rust prone areas of honda's... the rear portion above the tire theres an area that catches lots of debris specially salt if you are in that situation, i had the misfortune of learning mine the hard way, my poor integra , ive learned from my mistakes! just passing some good will info along to happy 8thgen member

Yeah, I'm actually 33 and this car makes me feel young. It also makes me drive stupid from time to time but I try to control the urges. I swear my Si gets inside my head. She is like most woman I've dated.

Anyways, just hit 19K on her. She had her one year birthday this month. No problems other then the rev hang (offical Honda reflash fixed that) and the slight grinding in 3rd (Amsoil fixed that).

Another year or so and I might actually start throwing mods on her. Well I have the SS, a K&N drop in filter but those don't count. Also have a progress rear sway bar on the way but no real mods to speak of. I'm waiting till the car bores me.

Love this car!!!

At 10,000 miles, your car shouldn't have any problems... It's like a given. If a major problem were to occur, thats terrible.

Dont worry, I recieved my 06 Civic si on December 27th 2005. I too have just passed the 10k mark. No issues, except for the passenger air bag sensor deal...

The person that posted about the rust....The best thing i have found to do ( and i havent checked this out on my new car yet) is to remove the plastic protector around the inner lip of the wheel well. The protector is was is holding the salt and crap in the wheel well.

i did this with my 2000 civic and had no issues at all.

wow, I bought my car end of April 06 and I have over 19K on it. I have had no issues, really. The reflash was a big improvement. I occasionally get the 3rd gear grind, but as soon as the weather breaks I'll change over to Amsoil or Redline. No rattles, no premature wear anywhere.
Intake gets delivered tomorrow. wOOT! Oh yeah, I'm 45 going on 17 lol.
