06 Acura TSX report

took my moms MDX for seat track and front brake job(under warranty at 30k! :) )

anyhow first it takes them a month to get the part in, and took them like all day to get it in the shop THEN come to find out that they ordered wrong parts...and with christmas it may be till wed before the car is fixed.

anyhow they got me in a 06 tsx loaner with 6000miles

first impression
- IMPRESSIVE. feeling of the door opening and closing was solid, seat was very comfortable and gauges were blue/white electro luminescent with very clear read out. Interior gives hints of the current accord but way better fit and finish and material.

driving
- 5spd automatic is very smooth on auto mode. won't hold the gear until redline in auto mode shifts at 6800rpm in manual it holds the gear until redline 7400rpm dooes not automatically shift to the next gear when redlining. VTEC kicks in at about 6200rpm but only has aboout 1200 more before the fuel cuts off. Fun doesn't last long. VTEC engagement is also not as prominent as the Civic SI's. Very subtle, but noticeable for people who know whats up. Engine does make lot of noise because of the 4cyl. definitely needs a 6 cyl in place of it. Lack of torque at high speed makes it a some what of a boring ride.

handling
-very nimble, light and tight steering and suspension. They used crappy michelin MXM4 all season tires...same tires used on 06 Civic SI. POOR grip but comfortable. It's okay for everyday person.

Overall
-I liked every aspect except the engine. Definitely need torque in a luxury vehicle rather than loud high revving 4cyl engine. Not worth $30k imo
TSX is very popular and has one of the highest resale value out of any cars out there on the market. Probably one of the reason is the Luxury combined with good gas mileage.

end of the report.

I'd buy a TSX if they put a different engine in it. Something with more hp/torque, and quiet.

I love the TSX, drove a loaner one before, and with the exception of the griminess of a loaner car, the interior was beautiful, ride was smooth.

I don't understand why they don't put the V6 from the accord in there. I didn't make sense to me. But, what do I know?
