Si Sedan $2k-$3k over MSRP?

It's my first post here and I hope I will get some help about my problem.

I'm planning on getting the '07 Si Sedan with Navi when it comes out - I'm on a waiting list at one place.Few days ago I got an e-mail from a sales person at one Dealer in Colorado, quote:

Quote:
We know they will be two to three thousand over msrp.
Hmm, $2-$3k over MSRP - is this normal?

I'm not sure if I'll be willing to go that high for a car.

Does anyone know a good dealership in the Denver area ?

The Si sedans are made in even fewer quantities then the Si coupe. An Si Sedan with Navi would be even harder to find. That is a steep markup but you might not be able to find another one for a couple months. If it was me, I wouldn't pay over msrp, the Si is expensive enough as it is.

good luck...

there's probably more demand and less quantity so it will be at LEAST MSRP or higher

They may have weeded out the suckers with the '06 Si and now there will be at least double the allocation of Si's (not everyone wants the sedan). You may want to wait on this one. They may try to real in a few suckers that missed '06, but at this point there are fewer buyers and more cars. Just wait and see. No one should be paying over MSRP.

While I agree that the car will be harder to find with navi due to lower production numbers, that does not excuse a dealership from blatantly marking up the price of a car because they can.

If I were you, I would call them, tell them that you find what they are doing disgusting, get your deposit back, and tell them you're going to their leading competitor.

I understandly dealerships need to make money, but taking advantage of the consumer just because quantity is low makes me sick.

At least I didn't pay any deposit yet (though they've asked in the same e-mail for $500-$1000 one).

I'll just wait few more months - I've already waited several, and a few months won't make a difference.

I've heard conflicting things with the navi. On one end I hear that the entire allocation of cars was decided before one was even built. I would assume that includes how many would have navi. On the other hand, I hear the reason there were so few navi SI's was because of supply issues at Alpine. If its the latter then it maybe easier to get a hold of one; assuimg they solved the supply issue.

Stay away from greedy dealerships.. if they are trying to rip you off during the sales process, just imagine how potentially bad things could get if you ever got any work done there... I'm sure they wouldn't cut corners on anything to save themselves 5 cents... right?

Vazagothic, this is the exact same behaviour that dealers exhibited when the '06Si coupe first came out (and still occurs at many dealerships). While many rotten schmecks will be charging thousands over MSRP (or forcing unwanted accessories purchases), you CAN find dealers that are selling at MSRP (or even a small discount as some few of us were able to get).

As one of the other posters said, look further afield. How much of a drive worth to you to save $3K to $4K? One would hope a few hours drive (or even a short flight) would be worth it to save thousands of dollars.

Another option would be, if he couldn't find one in state and couldn't get fly out, he could have one delivered. I think when I was looking, I found one in Florida, and the shipping cost was just under $600, I believe. $600<<<<$2K-$3K in mark-up anyway you wanna look at it.

Also, inquire to dealerships if there's anyway they could install an aftermarket navigation system and still give you the factory warranty. You'd be surprised as to how many dealerships are willing to do this. It'd be different if the OEM Navi were some massively great thing, but compared to the aftermarket, there are some drawbacks per cost, including just being able to find one.

Hey Guys,

I'm the process of buying one and mine just came in.

I lucked out 'cause the owner of the Honda dealership is a customer of my wife's.

Basically I'm paying MSRP and not a penny more. They wanted to charge me $1K over, but I said no and I mentioned the owner's name and they said OK (the manager had to confirm this with the owner herself!!)

When I was shopping around most dealers were charging at least $1K+ over MSRP. Same things goes for the S2000. Their excuse is that there's a great demand for them and they get sold even before the get to the lot.

They had many LX, EX coupes and sedans...but no SIs! They same goes for the SI sedan!

If I didn't get this deal I would've shopped on the internet and gotten it shipped.

Can wait to pick it up within the next few days!

Take care!

I can't imagine paying $3k over MSRP for an Si. Don't get me wrong, I love my Si and couldn't have found a better car for my money, but that's becasue I got it at MSRP. There are several other cars that I would be slightly more interested in that are around the $25k-$27k price range. However, for roughly $22k I couldn't find a better buy than my Si.

If everyone who was told to pay over MSRP told the dealership to go fuk themselves then nobody would have to pay those ridiculous prices.

Same here, its only worth it for MSRP. After that its just not a good car for the price.

There are a lot of scare tactics that go along with this car. A couple of days after I bought my car a dealership called saying they had an Si and they would sell it for 2k over. He said every dealership in the bay area has charged over MSRP. I told him I just bought mine a couple of days ago for MSRP. He continued to insist all dealerships in the bay area just started with the markups. Like it happened the day before. Shop around and don't listen to what salesmen say about other dealerships.
