Pretty sure it was a 95 si. I wanted that car bad Sticker was $17k. I remember going to the dealership and having performace parts on display was cool. Then a guy pulls up in a yellow type r that he was trading in on an rx7. Man memory on these cars started to come back to me. You know its funny how I get giddy over an econo box car instead of a muscle car. IDK just what I was into back then/now.
The performance upgrades for these cars back then was amazing. The only car I drove with vtech was a 96/97 acura integra gs-r. Man that was a fun car. Red one at a dealership had to drive it. Well back to that cobalt, lol... Oh just think it was cars like that that made gm build the cobalt to what it is today. People should respect that! |

Well excalibur I uderstand what your saying, previous gm besides thier trucks were shit! I am a die hard gm fan, but I had lowrider/sport truck s10. I did have a 2000 malibu..what a peice of shit! The cobalt in the ss models are really a step ahead. Yeah they have their flaws but overall, best gm car I drove/owned.

The Civic is much better designed. It's layout more intuitive and driver-oriented. They actually put great thought into it. However, while the materials are great looking and to the touch, mine has not held up well at all. There have been numerous rattles, plastic scratching over next to nothing, the door panel clips have broken multiple times, and the awesome cloth looks almost three times its age despite my meticulous care and concern of the car. It's apples to oranges. Honda does better executing cars, but they aren't free of the problems that plague domestic ones, I don't think. Quote:

Then the next car I read all about was the mitsu evo IV. There was a white one in sport compct car. 1/4 mile on dirt/pavement. Then the Evo 8 came out, too exp for me though. Sorry for thread jacking, it should say "Cars J drooled over" Thanks for not bashing me for driving a cobalt/reminiscencing...

All this talk about the MS3 and Cobalt SS really have me thinking. I really do like both cars as well as the R32, but I am still hoping to go back to Subaru and/or Toyota after the Si only because they did not have the Saturn Astra turbocharged.

Only reason I'm not driving a Saturn Astra right now is because it doesn't have a moonroof on the 3-door or an AUX jack.

It looks okay too many shapes going on i just cant take it serious as a sports car it has no heritage just a beefed up 3 series i just happen to love the interior.
Same thing with the Cobalt yea the new 1's are fast but you just wont get that feel you get in the cockpit of the SI and the driver involvement its so exciting. The Civic SI started this tuner world we see today and it still sets the standard for high reving, driving excitement that wont be found elsewhere for the money. Chevy has been making great strides to try and break into "our bracket" and I think this is a good mile stone for them. I mean I can get off topic and talk about my friend's Celebrity edition blue station wagon that just would not die even with original battery and what ever at 300K miles. I mean that is reliability at its best! But I can not wait to see the New Camaro coming out is going to be the best compared to that challenger that dodge put out.
But yea I still see what everyone is saying.. as soon as I got into a Honda civic I was all about it and would not stop driving it to get into another car. Last edited by civicconvert06; 08-28-2008 at 02:02 AM. |
