you shouldn't say every salesman is bad. Your starting to sound like Hitler. I've been at my dealership for 2 years you can ask any of my customers about how they have been treated by me and they will all say it was the best car buying experinance they have ever had in there life. I don't joyride any new cars either. We see these cars everyday why would they intrest me or my co-workers?. I hate this shit though because your next car buying experinance your going to treat your salesman like a dick because of this guy. I hope you will do what we do as well and erase that bad experince away and start fresh with your next car purchase because we don't like to be treated like shit either and most people treat us like shit already and thats not fair to us good salesmen and women.

That would be my advice. I'm still shocked at all the dealership complaints I see on here.

No, but then I imagine people would if the supermarkets would let them. Car dealerships allow you to negotiate, so you do. I tell you what, how about dealerships set a price for each car, and do what every other business does and gain business through low prices coupled with good customer service.

And to me, it will probably never be JUST $20,000. I never have and never will spend that much at a supermarket.

Yeah.... it is funny.. They always bring up that "supermarket" analogy as if it's some sort of slam dunk argument.... Although, I did manage earlier tonight to get 20 percent off a beauuuuuuty mango at the market.

LOL... Interesting posts. However I really think the car salesmen here should save their breaths, we all know what kind of people we are dealing with and we all hate them for what they do; stand between us and the cars we love, with no regards for us, the cars or Honda as a company.

I'm not talking about individuals, I actually think the guy I used to deal with at Acura dealer is pretty cool. But I also know if he's being nice to me it's merely because he thinks there is some financial gain for him. The fact that all the salesmen were taking people's SIs out for joyride is just an example of the type of "people" they are. How low do you have to be on the morality scale to do such a thing.

Fortunately it's getting better, with all the information available on the net people are more informed and won't put up with the crap they used to get from the dealers.

I still think though there should be a way for me to be able to order a car from Honda directly and the dealers act as distribution centers only. No damn PDI, no joyriding peoples cars, no lying about costs and prices.

Here's to hoping...

when i got mine, it had a whopping total of 3 km's on it. im pretty sure i abused the car more than they ever could have in those 3 km's.

they had a habi red one before i got mine and the sales manager and i took it out. that one already had a good 700 km's on it and the manager ripped it up to 130km/h on the highway.

Now dont get me started on their service department..

First salesman I approached at the dealership flat out told me Si's were "unavailable".

"They're not really available to the public. They just make cars like this and advertise them to generate an interest in Honda." He went on to try to sell me a regular coupe. After telling him to go to hell, I got with another salesman that same day and he told me I could purchase one that was in transit or wait 2 weeks for another one they were expecting.

I bought the one in transit and ended up waiting 2 weeks on that one. For making me wait 2 WHOLE WEEKS (which went by very fast), they gave me 2 free fill-ups (not including the obligatory first one), and I could bring it in to be detailed twice on the house. Hell, they even gave me a cool Honda hat that I wear pretty often.

Actually I do feel sorry for the car salesmen/women. They have long hours, have to put up with a bunch of crap from customers, etc. However, the management team are the ones that put the screws to the customers, not the salespeople.

I have never seen a dealership yet that didn't make a very good profit on a new car. I guess its a matter of wanting the car more than good common sense in some cases. But, hey, thats part of the game.

My Si only had 3 miles on it when I took delivery. I don't think they were from the salesmen either. I have no complaints about the dealership.

This is kind of off topic, but I went to the Honda dealership today to see what kind of stuff they had. My friend was looking into getting a Ridgeline so I wanted to take a look at one. The black one he has been wanting had the keybox open! Anyone could've easily jacked that car today. My friend and I decided to not even touch the car incase it did get stolen so that our fingerprints wouldn't have gotten on it. I text messaged my friend who has a boyfriend that works there, and told her to tell him that. So, hopefully someone can go close it. Haha, retards.

hey ramin, whats up man!! it's ed, from purolator. you ordered the 07 si, that's great. what color? the white or the fiji?

there are good salespeople and bad; but i do agree with you that the majority seem to be not that honest. there's a reason why sterotypes get created...

i had a really bad experience buying my ex coupe - as part of their "PDI" service they decided to wax the car, and they left these huge linear swirl marks in the paint that looked like holograms that did not clean off - it was actual damage to the clear coat. the bad part was when i showed these swirl marks to my salesperson, he tried to play them off as "normal" for metallic paint, and basically did whatever he could to get rid of me...so i just bypassed him and went to talk to the sales manager, showed him the car, and then they agreed to fix it...anyway, i won't ever let that dealership touch my car ever again...

i feel your frustration man...

They don't give a shit about the cars, they also lie often and tend to not know shit about anything but selling. Thats not all of them.. just the great majority of them.

but at certain stores the mark up is 40%. An auto is about 9%. so i pay more profit to my supermarket in 1 year than most pay on their car. $500-$600 a month - 12 months in a year - $6,000- $7,200 at 40% is $2,400-$2,880 profit. Ever think about it like that. And some want to buy a car at $100 over. You think you got the lowest price from Bestbuy/circuit city because they advertise they will beat any advertised price on same model. Duh. To be a authorized dealer you are NOT ALLOWED to advertise below a certain price. Hence - aall the authorized dealers have the same low price. They can sell it for less - way less. Most electronics are marked up 100-140%. Wake up and smell the coffee. My customers that are nice get extra care - such as Blue tooth phone pairing, homelink pairing at their house and a demo instead of waiting in the customer lounge. The prick get nothing.

People know dealerships make money. People know when i sell them a car i am making a commission and a profit. Some care more than others. Some people tip me, buy preasants for my kids or give me vouchers at their establishment. That tells me a do a great job besides my customer satisfaction index being 97-99% and being reconized as the top 5% in salespeople (gold level) of more than 2500.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone else find it a bit ridiculous that this old woman is driving if she can't even see the needle on the speedometer? What's to say she would notice a yield sign, stop sign, school zone sign, etc etc if she can't see an instrument 1-2 feet away from her eyes?

I walked out the door and called up my friend who worked at a Honda dealership in another city (Toronto) to see if he can get me a better deal. Turns out he's no longer at that dealership, in fact he's out of the car sales business. But the things he told me about how they operate in the dealership ... just horrifying. These people are not human, they live by lying with every breath that they can muster. You cannot believe a single word that comes out of they mouths.

By the way, he told me every SI that they got delivered as ordered by someone, was taken out by every salesman at the dealership for a joy-ride before delivery. How I hate car salesman... I wish they would all of them vanish from the surface of the earth one bright morning...

The sales manager at the dealer I purchased my car from told me he'd give me 10% off the extended warranty package that he was going to sell me to make up for what they tried before... that being trying to refund my deposit so he could sell my car to the next 2-3 people that he had lined up - what the hell, is he lining people up to buy my car that I just put a deposit on? I love the car, love the Honda line of vehicles, everything about it, I just wish I never had to go through a dealer to buy the thing.

When picking the car up (and paying for it) I tried to get them to throw in an engine block heater ($60 part, $80 installation cost) and they refused. I tried to talk them into a set of locking wheel nuts ($50) and they refused. Oh well at least the car is reliable enough that I don't have to take it to the dealer very often.

I have not had these experiences with bad salesman. I was lucky to find an A+ salesman at Hardin Honda in OC. I won't give out his last name, but his first name is Richard. It was a very enjoyable experience for me. He was not pushy, and I ended up getting the car for $300 over invoice in OC, where these cars sell without advertising. I hope there are more salesman like this guy. Honda needs more like him.
