yah i drove one before i had my civic...my fill up was...about $100

A WEEK! 11MPG FTL! 25 Gal tank FTL!

...when can i expect my MPG to go up? after 900ish miles?
Before my 3,000 mi, I'd get a 23-24mpg constantly. I took it back to the dealership to see what was up. they said that after my first oil change, things should change and i should test it for a week. If things were still the same, then bring it back. So, after my free oil change, i noticed a slight increase in mpg. But i was putting in cheap gas. Went with Citgo, Mobil and Exxon, then i was living in the mid to low 30's. Can't complain now

i always fill up on the 7-11 88 octane special blend. is it worth it to go premium? i know you get better mpg due to better detonation but is it really worth the extra $ now adays?

running ac will save fuel if you are driving interstate speeds over 60 mph versus having the windows and sunroof open. especially on long trips.

It looks like you have an SI, right? How long/miles have you been driving with the 88 octane? Please don't tell me you've been filling it with 88 octane all this time??!!!

It's a matter of finding that sweet spot in the range where you can shift as early as possible without losing too much power. In the Si, for example, anything below about 2200 and the car feels like a dog. At 2400-ish, it feels that it has enough power to scoot along. Not to increase speed drastically, but enough to putter around. Try to feel out the car, when it starts bogging and when you don't have to be in gear accelerating. Just a matter of trial and error.

Be in the highest gear possible...I usually can get to 5th (and mostly 6th) even with city driving in the Walnut/Diamond Bar/etc. area.

My mileage went up slightly everytime I went to fill up. I'm now getting 27-28mpg constantly with some fun spattered about. And that's an Si model.

What do you mean?
I would think because with the windows open there is more air resistance... and that's why it would be better to just run the AC... but still I am not sure what YOU mean...

I'm sure, just by reading both your posts, that you both mean the same thing.

True !!

2.5-3k is ideal.

Faster you reach the 4th or 5th gear, the better it is.

yeah, on my long trip to tennesse last year it was in the 90 's the whole way, and i ran nothing but ac and got 39 mpg on first tank, and 42 on the second tank. this was with like 500 lbs of weight in the car also.

Honda doesn't use synthetic oil with our cars.

whats the best way to drive? i always shift at 3k rpm and i stay under 3k rpm when i cruise...

i check my air pressure to make sure is not too low or too high...i dont use the AC unless i drive on the freeway...

and like...i get 23 MPG for my EX 08 coupe...its a pretty low for a civic i think...my car is brand new...only have about 350 miles on it...

i was thinking about changing my air filter with the K&N..i heard it brings up MGP a bit...

but yah...wtf..23 MPG? help?
Wow, I paid $70 to fill up my Si today, not sure what you are complaining about...However, I get closer to 28MPG on my Si combined city/highway...

You too? NorCal gas prices suck. I don't understand why it's more expensive here. A lot of major oil refineries in this area.

LOL...I love this thread. I would give up my first born for a $45 dollar fill up

Just filled up my 03 Dodge Ram 1500 (Hemi of course) $96 DOLLARS for mid-grade (required) and it wasn't even completely empty. That's why I'm here on 8th civic, researching info. for my soon-to-be new Civic owning self.
