You have an Si. So, basically:

1. Use a wrench or something to hold that locking nut on the bottom of your shift knob.
2. Use that wrench to loosen the locking nut.
2a. If I remember right, I used the wrench on the locking nut and twisted on the shift knob.
3. Unscrew shift knob.
4. Take out locking nut, unless you're going to use it with the shift knob you are putting on.
5. Profit

Lame, I got assed out by another SoCal member. Lame.

So the knob is threaded it's not just the nut holding it in place some how? I am thinking of swapping the factory Si knob for a factory knob out of a RX-7 FC (Series 5) and wasn't sure it was going to fit. If it works I have a friend that's good with leather that would cover the old 7 knob in leather from an 08 Si shift boot.

The 08 boot isn't leather...its Pleather! Granted its a nicer fake leather then the lower trims.

Well poop. That won't do. I might have to get my friend to make me a nice black and red trimed shift boot and matching cover for my FC knob...if it will fit an Si otherwise this is sorta a moot point.
