Hey, I'm a new owner of a 8th gen civic and was wondering what needs to be done when on my new car. Any tips or things I should now at certain miles to check? I regularly check the air filter and oil (Even without the electronic aid) to make sure I don't mess it up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

there should be a maintenance handbook that comes with your car and corresponds with the maintenance minder.

Replace the manual transmission fluid as soon as you can to Amsoil or GM Syncromesh. The shit Honda uses is interchangeable with dog piss, to put it politely. That, and three years into manufacturing, it's still noticeably overfilled from the factory.
Other than that, try to have very minimal contact on your arm rests, because you'll notice in a few months that they are discoloring, matting, or fading, even if you clean them. Other than that, try to follow the maintenance minder system and you'll be good.

Exactly, buy 2qts of Amsoil Syncromesh MTF ASAFP! The Si takes 1.6qt. It's really good stuff. I put it in at 1,700mi and now have over 16,000mi, and I've never grinded a gear. On my car, third gear has a very little notch to it(has since new/Amsoil MTF smoothed it out some), but I just think thats part of this tranny's flawed design. Other than that my car shifts great! Good luck with your new ride.
