Hardwire with fuse Panel???

I have a 2007 honda civic sedan LX

I want to hardwire my Garmin Nuvi 260 Navagation

I want to hardwire into the fuse panal under the dash on the driver side

what size and which fuse shoule I tap into??

Is this possible or do I have to tap in behind the cig. lighter?

Thanks

You would tap into the accessories fuse for it to come on with the car (same fuse your cig. lighter is attached to)

Two options.

Tap the positive wire of the cig.lighter (aka accessory plug) with a fused lead to the garmin, then ground the other.

Second option, tap right into the fuse box with a fuse extender with the same amp fuse and ground again. (both ways are the same, the first one is double fused)

hardwiring

best bet to hardwire it man would be to either tap onto the ignition harness or behind the lighter plug. been an audio installer for 6 years now and tapping onto the fuse panel is a no no. u can tap blue or orange on the ignition harness, big 12 gauge wires coming from the key cylinder. blue is ignition and orange is accessory. and then obviously bare metal for a good ground

Use a "add-a-circuit" fuse tap, fuse both slots with the app. fuse, slide into fuse spot #8 which should be empty(and controlled by acc) and hook up your Navi, BUT FIRST, ground it. :-)

What he said. The Nuvi' series is not 12v so watch out and check the voltage before you blow up that bad boy.
