diy trunk deadening

whats going on everyone. heres a diy to deaden your trunk. some tools youll need include: a towel, flat head screwdriver, panel remover, heat gun, and a wooden roller.
1st fold your seats down
2nd you want to remove the board that goes over the spare. as you can see its held on by two clips which you can just pull it up by grasping it by its two sides.

next to the two bolts below, was where it board was held down.

remove the spare!!!
3rd remove the plastic cover thats located where the trunk locks. reach down and grab it from the middle and pull it out. from the middle work your way out to the sides. there are 3 clips and they come out rather easy.

4th you want to remove the interior carpeting. on each side, there are 3 plastic screws that you can remove with the flat head and there are 2 that you will need to use the panel remover for. the 2 for the panel remover are located on the floor of the trunk and the other is behind the seat.

5th now that you have everything out, wipe everything down with a towel to get all the dust off. this is important because the deadener needs a clean surface to stick. heres how it should look with everything removed and wiped down.

6th now just start laying down the deadener and run the heat gun over it. while running the heat gun over it, use the roller to press on the deadener so it will stick. not sure if the heat gun is necessary but its cold in chicago right now and i know it wont stick while its cold. just to be safe, use it, plus it will stick better. heres what it should look like.

then do the same to the trunk. it should look like this.

now your pretty much done. apply as much as you want. i bought 36 square feet from second skin and used most of it. i tried to cover as much area as possible. anyway, put it all back together now. before you do that, this would be a perfect time to clear your tail lights.

just a suggestion since you have everything off already.
Well Done!!!
ran into these two things, does anyone know what they are? the tube and the vent thing.

peace!
