intake idea that worked great

i have seen people modifiying the factory box, so i put a twist on it.

you notice how when people hack the resonator at the bottom they no longer have a place to mount the tube, well all you have to do is cut the resonator in half its made in two pieces from the factory than glued together.

cut the half off that doesnt have the pipe running into it, inside the resonator you can notice that there is a "water trap" like what you have under a sink on the drain.

you cut that off make it smooth on the edges and leave the top half of the tube connected.

at this point now you can both keep the stock upper tube snorkel intact as well as keeping both the two bolts so you have a place to mount, so you dont have to worry about the lower section falling off. also the fact that the other half the box is there as well as half the bottom ensures that no water splash or unnecessary debris can make its way to the tube. sounds great and works real good, i should have taken pictures and i know its worthless without them but oh well

I did the exact thing today. I took out the resonator box and just left the snorkel that is attached to where the battery sits. There really wasn't much of a performance difference, but my car made a nice whooshing sound before it reved. Then I took out the air filter, my friend said this would be exactly how a high flow performance K+N air filter would work. There was quite a difference in exhaust sound and it picked up quicker. I might get the performance filter or i might just wait and get a CAI. Ill try to take some pictures tomorrow.

I only took it around the block to see what it would have been like, and i made sure to clean the area underneath the filter from junk and dust.

It's a risk to get things like that from ebay IMO. If it's made for the 4dr 06 lx, then it shouldn't be a problem.
