Nice diy, I did the same thing but have not cut the fins in the intake chamber (yet). Not sure if I will or not. One thing I did different is I just used a razor knife. Makes for a nice clean edge. No need to use a hack saw, and make all the mess. The razor knife will cut through it no problem at all. I just miss the vtec sound, it's gone! One other thing I did was place some high density foam on the edge of the piping as it enters the bumber area to prevent any vibration or rattling. You didn't mention that you had any issues but I didn't want to take any chances. So, did you drop in the k&n yet? Changes? Wish there was a dry hi-flow drop in.

i did this along time ago. But i did not use the stock piping down low but rather brake tube insulation duct. a foam filter might flow better if there was one that fit the box. Ohhh and i did not make holes for the to get out in the actual box. Almost never rains where i live. I just never got a k&n. But thats awsome that someone else did a similar mod and posted. Good to see some dyno....its prob still better then the pos aem that i have on the car.

They are for getting rid of intake noise mainly.

I am thinking about trying this DIY and have some questions. People are saying the vtec sound is gone...could you describe this more for me? Do you mean that the switch over noise into vtec is gone...or is the vtec "punch" is gone? I love the the vtec kick and also enjoy the sound change, just hoping someone could better exmaple what is lost with this DIY.

Also for people that have made this change, how does it affect idling...similiar stock idling or does it continually fluctuate.

sidecut;

The idle remains the same. This mod seems to increase the mid range enough that you don't feel much kick anymore, very slight. As for the sound it's pretty much gone. If you like the sound and the kick I would not do this to your car. If you do the mod I would suggest that you leave the fins alone as I don't know if removing them would change the idle or not. For sure I wouldn't remove the one beyond the box or that probably will change the idle, just a guess but I wouldn't chance it.

it should be just the noise. i have not done this but if i had to imagine it would be sound. they said that they gained power too.

I did the poor man, got decent gains but now I'm going with x's full kit to compliment the exhaust and then the hondata. Man I can't type worth a sh*t right now.

Happy new year all!

bump for you bioevolve...I think a few should see this...it's been a while. I like mine so far, although I didn't cut any veins in the box or in the inlet. I just made the cai part of the tubing.
