Installing power door locks in a DX

does anyone know what's needed to add power door locks to my 06 civic dx?

if parts are cheap enough, i'd love to have power door locks on my car.

you would have to get REMOTE entry....it'll probably be cheaper and less of a headache

Yep. Aftermarket security system with keyless entry is your best (and cheapest) bet.

in order for the aftermarket security system with keyless entry to works, your car has to have power door locks first. right?

Nope. They install actuaters in your car. But that only gives you the power to lock and unlock with the remote. There will be no switches on the doors to lock and unlock. If you want that, you'll probably have to buy all Honda parts: actuaters, LX or EX doors, wiring harnesses, etc. Honestly, it's probably not worth the money. But take my comments lightly, you're getting this comment who spent $25 to remove the keyhole from the driver's door and $350 for turn signal mirrors (to be installed soon).

never cheap out when buying actuators the cheap ones are notorious for breaking and its a job you dont want to do twice. I think DEI makes some good ones

your wrong about there being no switches in the car, when you buy your aftermarket door lock actuators, make sure that at least one of the actuators in the kit is a 5-wire, having two is better. The 5-wire actuators sense when you manually flip the little lock switch under your door handle, and automatically repeat that motion on the other locks (ie. open your lock and they all open). I installed a kit like that on my Saturn a few years ago, got it for $75 on ebay with a trunk actuator, 4 door actuators, and the brain, I already had a keyless ready alarm.

so is it...you get power door locks first and then alarm with keyless entry
or it doesn't matter because you can get the alarm with keyless entry feature and install the poewr door locks later?

I know this is a really old thread, but it is the closest thread I could find to what I'm looking to do to my Honda Civic 2006 DX Sedan.

I would like to add the following to my car:

1) Power locks with the button on the door.
2) Alarm system that will tie into the power locks.
3) Automatic Trunk release.

I've done a little looking around, and some of the power lock systems I've seen are really low priced (which kind of scared me about the quality).

Here are some of the things I found:

REMOTE CONTROL POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEMS (4 door)

REMOTE ALARM SYSTEM WITH KEYLESS ENTRY AND SIX BUILT-IN RELAYS

Any comments would be helpful and appreciated. Anyone actually do this type of DIY project on their DX?
