Where did the DIY seatbelt chime/beep removal go?

Like the title, it was here at 2am this morning now its gone. Why was it deleted? I needed some info out of there.

-------------------
edit - make a petition at this link for honda to fix the issue you have with the chime. Tell them you want a work around or whatever you're seeking. Then edit this post with the link for others to put their name on the list and send it to honda.

http://www.petitiononline.com/create_petition.html

the other mods have spoken about the potential issues with future owners of the car. It does in fact pose a specific risk with the way airbags are deployed. Get a petition going for honda to fix the issue and don't make a claim like "I don't like to wear my seat belt... and don't want to listen to the chime". If they were made aware that a large # of people were cutting wires to the seat belt harness to disable the chime, they may see that as reason enough to address the issue. I doubt they want future owners to potentially die because of a chime noise that was meant to be a reminder.... was disabled by cutting it.

That's odd. I was trying to search for it. I can't seem to find it either. I just read it yesterday too! Maybe the 1337 took it down for safety reasons? *shrug* But good luck in finding it. Hopefully it turns up soon. If I remember correctly, though, the thread title had something with 'seatbelt sound' in it or something. Good luck.

Another mod deleted it. It just boils down to liability. Feel free to post it on other sites, but we don't want people roaming the boards and pointing fingers at us because we were a resource for them breaking the law and possibly getting injured. I'll let the mod that moved it know, but that's my take on it.

Good point tho for liability. I dunno why ppl bitch about this. I mean it even gives you like a 10 second delay to get your seat belt on. Now my Yaris, that was annoying. As soon as you pulled away it started goin nuts.

I wasnt bashing him, I was thanking him for his great advice. Like I didnt know to use the search button. I was talking ONLY about the thread that was started on the 9th, which actually was helping me out. I wasnt asking for a thread to a million people opinions on why I should wear my seatbelt, I wanted the one and only one that actually gave good advice and help, unlike really anything else on this site.

Having users instruct other users how to disable a safety feature of the car is not useful information.

You probably didn't get to read my response in the original post you were searching for...the alarm in question is tied to other systems of the vehicles occupant protection system. Trying to disable this alarm puts you at greater risk for serious injury. Not just by you not wearing your seat belt...it goes deeper than that. You need to see the system as a whole and not just some "annoying" alarm.

It is not in the best interest of ANYONE to host information on how to defeat a safety system put in place to protect you. If you want to do it...fine go right ahead...but you'll have to figure it out on your own.

That's great. I'm happy for him, but that doesn't give him the right to call someone an idiot.

As far as the safety aspect, leave it out. I dont care to hear anyones input on that subject, Im a grown man and can make my own decisions on whats right and wrong for my cars and myself.

How is it not? You guys edited all of my posts!

This is a public forum, on the internet. Other people in this world have opinions that differ from yours mine and everyone else. So for you to feel that not wearing a seatbelt isnt in my best interest, and delete the thread my thread and edit all the posts, then its being opinionated based on the mods opinions.

Like I said, I have my opinions, and being that I would have died in a wreck, and the only reason I lived was cause I DIDNT have a seatbelt on. So why should I start now

Like I said, this civic is an ecnobox for me, to get good gas mileage, not some super sports car that is screaming with power. I just want to get from a to b with out the beep.

And yes I know it turns off after 10mins.
