Actually, my next DIY will be to disconnect Airbags, Take out seatbelts, Cut the wires to my headlights and tail lights.
And some other things that I need to get rid of because they annoy me.
I will make a link:

(Possibly fill tires with hydrogen (not helium) and we can have another Hindenburg!!!)

The Civic's front airbags can deploy at one of two rates. Deployment of the driver's front airbag takes into account the severity of the crash, whether or not the driver's seat belt is fastened and the position of the driver's seat. During a lower speed collision, the airbag inflators are triggered in sequence, resulting in overall airbag deployment with less initial force. The same sequence is also utilized regardless of collision speed if the driver's seat is close to the full forward position. During a higher speed collision, if the driver's seat is far from the full frontal position, both inflators operate simultaneously for full, immediate inflation.

While I agree with both standpoints, the MOD's and the OP's...I belive there should be a better way to disable the chime. Disabling those wires isn't doing you any good. Once you fool with those wires, your not enabling your car to tell whether or not your seatbelt is engaged, also not letting your airbags know at what rate to deploy. Just doesn't make sense. I understand it's annoying...but your disabling other saftey features at the benefit of a single chime to be gone. Just find a better way other than the wires, please.

It's pretty sad that I have to look in other areas of the internet to get the right info on my car for this. It's obviously a hot topic, as there is numerous posts from members that want to know the info, but each post is blogged down with useless, irrelevent rambles from people with no common sense.

You get the ones that always want to be the first to post "wear your seatbelt" to try to be funny. Really? Hmm...that's brilliant. Then, they want to go on about how the law is you have to wear your seatbelt, and to wear it, yada yada yada....But then they say to just click the belt and sit on it, or they talk about cutting wires, or some other lame, dangerous comeback. Not all the people on here want to disable the belt chime so they can ride around with it not on. There is legit reasons to do it. ALL car manufacturers now have codes to disable the chime without damaging anything, it's that way from the NHTSA.

And then you get mods that delete the posts that actually have the information in it? To do what, protect them?? What a croc! A post of the legit way to disable a chime has no civil liability whatsoever! Now all the posts that say "just latch the belt and sit on it", now that would have more of a chance to come back on this site than anything! This is why I rarely come to this site anymore, because of the immaturity of some of the members.

Just had to post, because the priorities on this topic are so sidetracked it's funny.

I see why this was removed from the site, unfortunately in this day and age its only a matter of time before someone tries to sue.

My dad is a college professor and every couple years gets sued by a student who fails his class claiming that he was discriminatory and refused to help. He teaches from 8am to 7pm most days and then stays as late as necessary helping anyone who wants it till 1am or later, they only have to show up.

My mom is a pathologist who has been sued several times for "malpractice" because the family didnt like the results of the autopsy or her diagnosis regardless of the fact that she was right.

its only a matter of time before someone gets hurt because of a seatbelt issue and tries to sue webby for allowing information about deactivating part of the safety systems to be accessible. so i agree with it being taken down.

no one has ever posted a way of doing this without cutting into their seatbelt and deactivating the wiring on the clasp side. If someone has a way of dealing with only the beep - so be it. The "solution" posted tells the car that you had your seatbelt on and could provide fatal in a car crash (as airbags deploy differently for seatbelt on/no seatbelt on). As mention before, that would also be passed on to any future owner of the car.
