Question Oil filter diameter? (OD)

Does anyone know the OD for the '06 Civic oil filter?

I am currently using a Filtermag on my truck and want to have one ready for the new Si. On my truck, even with the aluminum block, etc., when I cut open the first filter I used I had a nice film of magnetic particles stuck to the filter through the magnet, so I was sold. I currently have the 3" RA, but I want to make sure the filter will not the smaller OD magnet.

As long as you get a good filter you have nothing to worry about. All you are doing is holding all the pieces against the outside of the housing instead of against the filter element. IMO you are wasting your time. I have put 290k on a Z-71 and I always used WIX filters and I didn't use any gimick type of junk.

I am using Mobil-1 filters myself, however, the point is to capture those particles that are too small for the filter to capture. Thanks for your input though.

I also use a magnet, but mine is the drain plug type. Each oil change it has film or 'hairs' on it.

RE: the filter; I have read test reports of many filters during cold start-up or under heavy loads 'pop' the internal relief. To me, all this does is allow some of the stuff to be recirculated. An oil filter mag or drain plug mag just allows for some added protection.

I have almost 400K on my ole T- truck on the original engine and clutch. Hopefully the Civic will out last a Toy. Further, im my opinion, lost factors depend on how one cares for the vehicle as well as drives it.

Janizary, I'm driving an '06 Civic Hybrid. I have no earthly idea if they use the same filters. I just bought some. Assuming the parts guy sold me the right part (#15400-PLM-A01)...mine has an outside diameter of 8.25". Good luck.

Thanks, Texhybrid. I think that you have the circumference, however. OD (Outside Diameter) is the measurement of distance bisecting the circular portion at it widest point. According the a spec sheet I have somewhere, they use the same filter.

Of course. My math skills are not what they used to be. Hang on, yes they are. They were always poor. Let me know if you still need me to get you the correct measurement.
