Service Manual information for Si model...

I have purchased volume 1 and 2 of the 2006-2007 Service Manual for our Civics from Helms Inc. During a very rainy Christmas break, I read through both of them and extracted some useful information for our Si model members. Could be saved as a sticky if Webby feels it has merit.

Item, Torque (lb./ft.), Washer I.D.

Powertrain
Spark Plugs, 13.0
Cylinder head cover, 8.7
Oil pan drain bolt, 29.0, 14mm
Oil Filter, .75 turn after contact
Intake Manifold, 16.0
Throttle Body, 16.0
Exhaust Manifold, 33.0
Exhaust Manifold to down-pipe, 16.0
Cat. To "B" pipe, 25.0
"B" pipe to Muffler, 16.0
Thermostat housing, 7.2
Transmission drain plug, 29.0, 14mm
Transmission fill plug, 33.0, 20mm

Steering/Suspension
Steering wheel nut, 29.0
Front spindle nut, 181.0
Lug nuts, 80.0
Front lower ball joint nut, 51.0-58.0
Front damper nut, 33.0
Front strut pinch bolts (2), 67.0
Front strut to body nuts (3), 43.0
Front Stab. Bar (bar to link), 28.0
Front Stab. Bar (link to arm), 25.0
Rear upper arm (arm to body), 43.0
Rear upper arm (arm to hub), 80.0
Rear Stab. Bar (bar to link), 28.0
Rear Stab. Bar (link to lower arm), 29.0
Rear Damper (upper nut), 22.0
Rear Damper (lower bolt), 51.0

Brakes
Front brake caliper bolts (2), 25.0
Rear brake caliper bolts (2), 17.0

========================================

Little Tid-bits
Cylinder Compression: 135 psi. Max. variation is 28psi
K20Z3 has no EGR valve
Fuel cutoff is set at 8,200 rpms
Head has a VTC and VTEC oil strainer/filter
To relieve fuel pressure: Remove under-dash PGM-FI main relay 2 from the fuse/relay box and start engine and let it run until it stalls
Fuel filter is built-in the gas tank

Front camber: 0° 00' (±30')
Rear camber: -1° 30' (+1° 5'/ -0° 45'). Note: Negative is in at the top

Brake bleeding sequence: LF, RF, RR, LR
* When changing rear brake pads, rotate the caliper piston clockwise to align the slot with the stud located on the inner brake pad.

A/C refrigerant oil is PAG SP-10

Vehicle utilizes Controller Area Network (CAN) systems:
F-CAN (Fast controler, controls SRS, ECM, ABS/VSA, EPS)
B-CAN (Slow controler, controls Body related items)
MICU (Multiplex Integrated Control Unit) built into the under dash fuse/relay box). Controller has a sleep and wake-up function. Always remove the ignition key to allow for sleep mode (reduced parasitic drain on battery).
Audio and HVAC systems have built-in self-diagnostics that can be initiatied by pressing certain buttons in sequence.

Remember, most all of these values are intended for the Si model. Values will vary for DX, LX and EX models. For $87.69 shipped, these two manuals are an invaluable tool for working on our vehicles. I would highly recommend purchasing them if you intend on keeping your vehicle for some time, adding modifications or doing your own repairs after the warranty runs out.

Bill.

UNBELIEVBLE POST! Thanks you for this. I was waiting for someone to pdf the manual like they did the rsx and ep3 manuals. That cd-rom is my favorite!

Could I ask you to look up the torque settings on the 4 bolts that hold the rear hub assembly to the backing plate. I got a 35mph kiss from a concrete curb during a recent snowstorm and I had to replace a bent rim and just last night changed out the rear hub assembly. I was expecting a spindle nut, but found it to be held with four bolts. It was really easy to swap out, but I haven't been able to find torque specs for these four bolts. I torqued it to 45lb/ft as a starting point so I could drive to work today, but would really like to make sure I have the right torque.

Thanks very much.
Rich

You know, I just remembered I forgot to mention I had an 06' LX w/rear drums. I don't know if that makes a difference from the Si with discs in the rear. I'm going to guess the mounting and torque remain the same?

I have the Helms shop manuals as well... anyone by chance know if there is a more detailed table of contents anywhere on the web? My one complaint is that their table of contents only notes very general areas. I know, I could go and make one myself, too lazy so far (well, they ARE thousands of pages long...). I would recommend that anyone who is even remotely mechanically inclined purchase them, by the way... $75 is not bad at all.
