Service Manual information for Si model...
I have purchased volume 1 and 2 of the 2006-2007 Service Manual for our Civics from Helms Inc. During a very rainy Christmas break, I read through both of them and extracted some useful information for our Si model members. Could be saved as a sticky if Webby feels it has merit.

A/C refrigerant oil is PAG SP-10 Vehicle utilizes Controller Area Network (CAN) systems: F-CAN (Fast controler, controls SRS, ECM, ABS/VSA, EPS) B-CAN (Slow controler, controls Body related items) MICU (Multiplex Integrated Control Unit) built into the under dash fuse/relay box). Controller has a sleep and wake-up function. Always remove the ignition key to allow for sleep mode (reduced parasitic drain on battery). Audio and HVAC systems have built-in self-diagnostics that can be initiatied by pressing certain buttons in sequence. Remember, most all of these values are intended for the Si model. Values will vary for DX, LX and EX models. For $87.69 shipped, these two manuals are an invaluable tool for working on our vehicles. I would highly recommend purchasing them if you intend on keeping your vehicle for some time, adding modifications or doing your own repairs after the warranty runs out. Bill. Could I ask you to look up the torque settings on the 4 bolts that hold the rear hub assembly to the backing plate. I got a 35mph kiss from a concrete curb during a recent snowstorm and I had to replace a bent rim and just last night changed out the rear hub assembly. I was expecting a spindle nut, but found it to be held with four bolts. It was really easy to swap out, but I haven't been able to find torque specs for these four bolts. I torqued it to 45lb/ft as a starting point so I could drive to work today, but would really like to make sure I have the right torque.
Thanks very much. Rich |

I have the Helms shop manuals as well... anyone by chance know if there is a more detailed table of contents anywhere on the web? My one complaint is that their table of contents only notes very general areas. I know, I could go and make one myself, too lazy so far (well, they ARE thousands of pages long...). I would recommend that anyone who is even remotely mechanically inclined purchase them, by the way... $75 is not bad at all.

its 75 for the general manual, covers the r18 and all the stuff the Si shares with them, then you have to buy the second volume to get the Si specific info. Thats from what I understand. I am a cheap ass so I found a RSX manual that was scanned floating around on the web, I used that for my head gasket replacement, worked great.
