Need help with shift knobs...

This might be the wrong forum to put this in.. and this might be a dumb question.. but what do you guys like about your aftermarket shift knob? (if applicable) Awkward question.. but the thing is that I'm thinking of making my own shift knob.. so I'll have something nobody else has.. I've made a few prototype ones.. but I was wondering what people like about aftermarket knobs.. mine have been out of stainless steel.. so it gets hot faster than titanium.. and its a lot heavier too.. would having a knob weighing more than 440 grams make for a smoother shifting experience? How about shape and fit into palm of your hand? Any input on what makes for a good shift knob and what you guys look for in a shift knob would be appreciated. Sorry if this post is somewhat long and doesn't make sense.

well i like nicely weighted shift knobs with a round ball design. fits right in your palm and also i think it gives a nice feel i am currently using http://www.cardomain.com/item/RAZRA114

My ARC is my favourite shift knob i love the titanium http://www.optionimports.com/arctishknro1.html

matches the interior but i also have the DC5R shift knob which in my own opinion is nice but is way too light..
Skunk 2 shift knobs are really nice too, nice weight and the nice colour.
Sorry if my review is long..lol

I think the stock knob would be ok if it weren't so damn slippery. I wish there was a knob with a surface that my fingertips could get a grip on. Anyone?

^^ I want the shape of a shift knob, but with a surface that my hand doesn't slip off of.

Im also thinking of having one made, but i dont know how much it would set me back.

ive been through a ton of shift knobs so i know what i want now, its just finding it.

Right now im using a razo weighted ball. Its almost as much as the skunk2.

so far with the 06 ive had:
ARC styled ball (too light)
Type-R (had powdercoated.. still light)
Skunk2 weighted
Razo unweighted ball (almost good weight) liked the shape.
Razo weighted ball (had this one the longest, i like it so far).

I think the next one i get may be something like this--http://www.shopresponse.com/nismo_leather_shift_knob.jpg or this

and this is the current one-

Why do people like the ball shift knobs? I was thinking about making a Type-R style one.. except maybe a little heavier.. but I don't know if a heavier knob would be better or not because there probably is a reason why a lot of the aftermarket knobs do weigh the same.. but yeah.. the material costs wouldn't cost me anything.. all it costs for me to make them is time haha..

I prefer the ball style ones because they sit in my hand and i can "hook" my first two fingers around the base of it. It has a different feel that once i tried it- i had to have one (drove my buddies ep3 with an arc knob before i had my si).

Im looking for a new one today. If i can find a leather weighted one i'll be all over it. Unfortunately we have like 2 shops locally and i would like it sooner, than later.

I love my TWM type-r knob, it is pretty heavy, much heavier than stock...and it feels great in your hand and looks pretty cool...http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/shiftkn...hiftknobs.html

So how does a heavier knob compare to light knob? (always went with stock knob so I'm clueless lol)

I had one and hated it. In fact it's for sale for $20. It's lighter than stock so shifting is not as smooth. I removed it and put on a Skunk2 knob..
