Problem installing shift boot

This might sound retarded but i cant install my shift boot. The problem that i'm having is that i cant loosen the nut at the bottom of the knob. I'm trying to turn it but it wont budge and i'm afraid to round it out or scratch it up any more than i already have. Can someone give me some tips. I'm turning it to the left just like every other bolt and i think i was using a 1/2 inch wrench. What size wrench did you guys use to loosen the knut at the bottom of the knob?

Also does anyone know another DIY besides the one on the augerresorces web site that explains how to complete this mod?

your have to turn the nut to the right to loosen if from the knob, then unscrew the knob to the left to get it off and then turn the nut to the left to get it off.

I can help you out. I've done 3 of them and the third took me about 2 1/2 minutes...I used a crescent wrench on the nut. Hold the shift knob and turn the nut clockwise just enough to break it loose. Unscrew the knob then unscrew the nut. Use your fingernails to pry the silver plate up. Be careful and go slow. You will lose at least one of the clips if you rush, into the abyss. Anymore help, post up your ????
