My next silly project

So im thinking of getting the the overhead console from an accord for my LX sedan which would have the ambient light, but not the homelink, sunroof controls or navigation microphone, and turning the amber light blue to match the interior.

Im looking for some thoughts, opinions or the voice of reason since last time i tried to do something new and exciting i bought a key thats currently a very pretty Acura paperweight.

Pics of the overhead console? Links to diagrams? I'm too lazy (and busy at work) to do the research myself. Sounds interesting, but before I throw in my 2 cents, I'd like to see what you're talking about.

Sounds cool.

here you go Cameron

im looking at taking part number 12 from an accord

and putting it in the overhead console with the maplights on my LX sedan, i would have to get the smaller lenses as well but they are fairly cheap

civic diagram

it would require running an illumination wire up the a pillar to the light. My main concern is the side airbag in the a pillar, something about hondas directions saying beat an airbag with a mallet doesnt seem safe to me. Im hoping i can just tuck the wires up and under

Just make sure you use a rubber mallet. I have done it a couple of times, only things is the clip is disposable, so buy an extra one at the dealer.

I was thinking the new CRV non-moonroof version. I believe that is the same design as the Civic and won't need to be modified (well, as far as I read, it had it on the non-moonroof version) and blue as well.

i hadn't even considered the new CRV i think i need to make a trip out to a dealer and investigate now. The accords have their moonroof controls on the dash and the non v6 models dont have homelink either, but il go take a look.

the Odyssey also had the same setup as the Accord, but not sure if there is a light or if it was blue.

yup, its only $39 on Hondapartsdeals.com, plus $30 for the base and $4.50 for the two lenses.

Question is...which color?

39180-SJK-J01ZF 011 LIGHT ASSY., AMBIENT Pearl ivory
39180-SJK-J01ZH 011 LIGHT ASSY., AMBIENT Pale quartz
39180-SJK-J01ZJ 011 LIGHT ASSY., AMBIENT Wq light gray

i know for my car the light gray is what i want, for people with the tan interior i think the interior color of the crv i sat in was the pearl ivory and it looked like it would be a pretty good match to the civic interior

ethlar, are you doing this just for the ambient lighting? Because the Civic has this, and you can get the part that fits your car directly.

yea pretty much, i dont have a sunroof though, which is why i would order the parts from a LX CR-V which would only have the light and not sunroof controls
