If you replace the whole assembly, will it really look bad? lol. I mean, its the only thing on the ceiling of the car, so theres not much there to compare it to (as opposed to it being down near the dash). There are already about 3 different shades of gray in the car, so i'm not going to worry about it. Do you still have it? Can you take some pics? I'm interested in the wiring part...wanna know what I'm getting into before I purchase the parts. Do you have all the part numbers you purchased?
On a side note, can I ask any more questions? lol. |

So, what I'm guessing is that the colors are, for the Civic, clear gray for black interior, atlas gray for gray interior...and for the CR-V, pale quartz for the gray and WQ light gray for the black interior?? Unfortunately for us, the Accord is the one with the clear gray ambient light module...and that also has a sunglass holder.
Which color for the CR-V did you try (against your atlast gray)? I wonder which is lighter...(pale quartz part number is "A" at the end, WQ light gray is "B"). |

Yea, i don't think my friend would like it, either. lol. The homelink I can do without, though...I don't have a garage or anything like that. Is the homelink included on the Accord's part?
I'd really like to see pics of the color difference between the CR-V and the Civic...do you have any? |

I think the pale gray should be fine. I suggest you go for it. I went to the dealer today and sat in a gray-interior CR-V and guess what? The color of the ambient light console compared to the surround is about 2 shades lighter. Same goes for the beige (they had it in a Civic EX)...its a couple shades lighter. The Accord was the same, too. The only one that was a near perfect match was the black-interior-ed Civic EX Coupe with the darker gray upper console.

So, i did it! And it looks awesome. I love it. I bought both modules from the CR-V and they were both really light in comparison to the Civic pieces. But, it doesn't look too bad...i went with the darker of the two (which was more like a really light gray versus a light bronzish gray). Now, it just looks like an extension of the map lights with the module's light color. But, either way, the LED lights up the center console nicely...it works very well with the accessory ambient light.
As far as wiring it, i actually bought the harness from the CR-V (about $45) and used the plug from that (yea, damn expensive plug, but, then again, so was ordering two ambient light modules...if anyone needs one, i'll sell it to you cheap! lol). Ran the wiring through the roof and down the A-pillar, then behind the dash. I connected it to the two wires from my ambient light kit's plug (in the accessory plug in the fuse box). Its on all the time when the lights are on and the switch for the ambient light kit still works just for the lights under the dash as it should. |
