well freek i used car paint on my rims so unless there's some special care to be done to maintain ur car paint then the rims r pretty much the same.

as for using spray cans that might be a little different considering they don't have a clearcoat. but i can't explain how to maintain those.

I painted a set of rims before too, 6 coats of paint (duplicolor wheel paint), 4 coats of clear and 1 hour of drying between each coat. I drove up to lake tahoe (lots of sand and rocks) and there were quite a few chips afterwards. Seems to me if you're going to be driving on a rough patch, either dont. Or, powdercoat.

lol... just b/c u put a lot of paint on there doesn't mean it won't chip... actually if u put too much on it will be easier to chip...

also spray can paint isn't as effective as car paint... i can take pix of my rims up close and u will see that after almost two years there isn't a lot of chips if any...
