I had the key cut at work and programmed it myself. Earlier in the thread theres a explaination about the frequencies.

The MDX KEY FOB is completely different in internal contruction compared the TL KEY FOB . Its more liek the RDX KEY FOB , also the circuit board is made by VALEO

I just emailed him asking if he had more in stock. Hopefully he does.

Do you know if theres the honda emblem on the back of the key like our stock ones? I doubt it because its a knockoff but im just wondering.

just finished reading that other thread from civic info. If our 8th gen keys are like the UK 8th gens, the transponder will need to be removed and relocated because it is too far from the immobilizer in the car.

I will probably still end up with one of these though.

With the ebay key? Not that I know of. It just needs to be relocated in the new key which involves removing the transponder from the circuit board, soldering two extension wires and putting it where it should be. Doesn't sound hard if you have good soldering skills.

yup, and unfortunately its gotta be done by a dealer on their HDS, shop around for a good deal though, my local dealer cut and program prices, not including the cost of the key, range from $120 to as low as a flat rate $22 cut and program

i just called dealer, they said that they would cut for free.. i might just have to do what that guy did... and that was to cut the transponder out and rewire it... how does the transponder work? does it need to be wired to the circuit board? if so, why?
