As of right now, the folks that got it to work has an '07 Civic.
Do I have to take it to the dealership and have them program the immobolizer? Or is there a way to just do it at home? Thats the only part that is confusing me.

You need the dealer to program it with their hds. If you could do it at home, it would defeat the purpose.

So if there programming it with their HDS..do they need to reset everything? Or just a few clicks here and there and it would be done? Also I lost the little tag that came with the key, is there a way for them to do it without that little tag?

It takes them 5-10 minutes to program a new key.
And they need that tag because the code on it tells the key-cutting machine how to cut the key.

I think they can look it up based on your VIN too. That's what happened to me since my dealer just wrote the code on the back of a business card (which I had temporarily misplaced) rather than giving me the tag

I don't know what code or tag you're talking about, I never needed it to have my dealership program my keys.

The tag is for the key code to cut the key...has nothing to do with programming!

You won't be able to cut the key without a code.Your dealer should have it on file!

I never needed a "code" for cutting. Give them the blank and the master key, that's it.

Suppose to come with a tag with a serial # on it to cut keys.

Your VIN also works.

maybe you should read at least one of the other posts in the thread. Then you might have a clue.

I tried to do it on my spare key with my weak soldering skills, I failed.

My brief success was when I was able to solder the wires (all 4 connections), hold and push the PCB against the TL/MDX battery, press the button and it worked. It went downhill from there.

I tried re-arrange the button, but soldering points on the PCB that the button were connected to CAN come off, so be careful. I was using a 25W solder, maybe that was too much.

Good luck!
