The issue is that there are no blank parts for the front. if one really wanted i guess you could bondo and fiberglass (or CF) the front smooth and then re-drill it for the layout of the civic buttons.

I might be selling the key if it still doesn't program after my appointment next week if someone actually were to want to take the time to do that.

Ok heres the deal, im done with this key, im not going to take it to get it test programed because i dont want to keep spending money on this project. So im going to sell the key, i want to hear from the mods tho if this would qualify as a civic item or if i should just ebay it. If someone on here were to want to go through modifying the faceplate to take a civic remote then i guess it would be a civic specific item.

So let me know if anyones would be interested in buying the key, and mods let me know if im allowed to sell the key here or if i should go straight to ebay.

Throw it in the For Sale forum for a week and see if you get any bites. If not, post it on eBay.

the buttons themselves might fit, with a little patience and glue but where our buttons are on a rubber sheet under a plastic piece, the rubber and plastic is integrated in one part.

Id go check out your local acura dealer or the honda/acura estore

Wife has a pilot, I have a Si. Both keys are the same, except the pilot has no trunk release. Two of these huge keys on my one keyring are a pain, literally! I have a hard time with these in my pant pocket. I just wish we had normal keys, these things are waaaaayy too long. Or maybe I should just sell the pilot...lol

I got an Acura switchblade key to work on my 2005 Accord.

I tried getting it to work on the wifes 07 Civic EX but I cannot get the remote to work. The transponder is OK, it starts the car, just cannot get the remote to work......

its because of the different systems, the transponders are programmed by the HDS system on both keys, but on the accord the remote is programed by the ignition on off sequence, but on the civic the remote is programed by the HDS while the transponder is programed

I just did it on my sister's '05 Element and it works perfectly. I took apart the valet key, took the chip out and put it in the TL flip key.

Do you know what is inside the valet keys of our cars? It's the exact same size of my sister's Element keys. So I was wondering if there could be a chip, if it was, maybe we can put the chip into the TL key and make it work? But how would the unlock/lock work?

Im getting tired of answering the same question about this over and over, because the explanation is earlier in the thread, so im going to be an asshole and very blunt, this isnt directed at you but everyone who cant seem to read the info I posted and continues to ask:

It does not currently work on 8th gen civics, it does not matter that you can get it to work on your (wife/friend/gf/bf/cousin/roommate)'s (accord/pilot/cr-v/element/tl/tsx/whatever other honda/acura you come up with thats out right now). All of the current honda/acuras on the market are Type-5 immobilizer systems and the 8th gen civic is a Type-6. The immobilizer chips themselves are compatible and can be programed for either system but the remotes arent.

the valet key has no remote in it, however any key the operates your ignition has to have a immobilizer chip in it to run your car
