no the issue is with the relocated remote buttons the transponder is too far from the ignition for the car to pick it up, so you have to relocate the transponder closer to the base of the key

So the cheap ebay one would work if they had designed the case so the module would sit a little higher? that lame lol. Cause if you open your key the guts are all neatly sealed in a housing . Man that would have been a super easy mod.

you will have to figure out how to do it yourself, your dealer will not help you with it

if you have all these questions about this key after reading the entire thread, you may want to reconsider taking on the project

Makes me wonder did they ever even test these things? people on other honda sites for the various models are having the same issue. Plus I guess the blade metal is a different thickness and material and thats causing issues as well

i just got a TL switchblade key for my 08 honda Fit. Switched over the immobilizer, programmed the remote, and then had the dealer cut the key for free. Works like a charm.

Only cost to me: $58 for the TL fob itself. I doubt the process would be different for the civic.

It is different, if you would have read through the entire thread with the numerous attemps by myself and other to get it programed.

Ethlar answered the question I was gonna post. I tried this on my '06, and yeah, the actuator doesn't cycle at all. Sucks for us early adopters of the 8th gen.

honest question... not giving anyone a hard time...

what is the benefit of having a flip key. Aren't they bigger and take up more space.
