when you have the key blade fully extended, it will wobble around when you move it. i'm not a big fan of it.

I checked today at work and the 2 button LX key fob has the same FCC ID and IC freqs as the SI and EX key FOBS. So there is no reason why it shouldn't work. Just make sure the seat memory is off , Connect the HDS tablet to the DLC connector with vehicle on, Put in all pertenant info such such as mileage and model for the most part it will automatically do this. Then in the menu select Immobilizer. From this point select add key.... and the technician will perform the precedure after the procedure the HDS will ask the technician to program key FOB. It will display the question " Is this a switchblade Key FOB " . The technician will then click yes and then it will say when next screen displays click the lock or unlock button on the key fob and nothng else. Once the next screen is displayed and he does this the door lock with cycle o engage indicating that the key fob is programmed. I stress that he has to click lock or unlock and not both at the same time or one then the other. Just one button will suffice. after that it will ask to register key and after that point the key is now registered in the ECM/PCM and your done. Sorry to drag this on but this is a very simple process. We update our HDS whenever one is available , hopefully this dealership does the same . Good luck with your programming and let us know what happens.
Well, no luck. They still couldn't get it to work.

He said, "since Honda doesn't make switchblade keys, it will not ask if it's a switchblade or not". What version of the software do you have?? They said "the frequencies are completely different from your master key", and "that the key "he" made it work has a tailgate option which may have a different FCC ID." But it's the same you have.

The key is pretty useless to me without the keyless entry. Maybe you can video tape the procedure or take pictures, but I guess it's against the policy. You work at a Honda dealership, right?

I guess this is pretty much a dead end for me.

Heres a silly question , you have an 06 Lx sedan correct? can you check the the fcc id and ic on the back of the factory key fob and let me know what it is . This is kinda irritating cause everything should work , unless the 06 model is different . If you lived in my area i would just do this for free . I'm gonna do some research on the 06 model and see if there are any differences in the key fob that would make it not work .

Well, I tried to get my key cut and programmed but Honda of Marysville wanted to charge me $60 for it, so I said forget it. Anyone have any tips on how to convince them to do it for cheaper or free?

Any more details??

My dealership was able to program the transponder but not the keyless, twice. Were they using an iPaq?

Probably not. That's one of their money-makers.

i was wonder if i can try to get the immobilizer from our old key over to the ebay to start the car. That pretty much what i need cause i don't even use the remote on our key. im already using the remote from the viper alarm.

ok,found out what the tech did, pretty easy and best of all dealership free.make sure the seat memory is of the mdx key.take your original key turn it to the "on" position, hit the lock, turn it off, repeat this step 3-5 times until your door locks cycle, when your door locks cycle hit the lock button on your other remotes.that's it, it should be programmed.

So if the RDX key is programmed, does it open the trunk? Thanks.

ok so i just read over this whole thread and i had an ideas. is it possible to replace our version 6 immobilizers with an older version 5 so it can work on the mdx? but i think that the ebay key maybe a great alternative. im going to look more into this. or maybe get a mdx key, and fill the holes and drill new ones to fit our key pad.
