I bought an MDX key, had it cut, and this morning I attempted to have it programed. They were able to program the Immobilizer, so I am able to start the car, but they said they can't get the keyless to work.

The first time they tried, they added the MDX key, that didn't work. Then they deleted my Master key, reprogramed that. Tried again with the MDX key, keyless still doesn't work.

The service advisor was real nice and curious to see if it worked. He asked me to get some more information on it and let him know and he'll try to get this thing working.

What options are left to get it to work?

- I'm thinking it's because of the Link/Unlink on the MDX key. I pressed both the lock and unlock to link and unlink, but I can't tell if it's linked or unlinked.

- Or have them delete all keys, including the Valet key, and reprogram it.

- I didn't think of this at the dealership, but maybe they were using the iPaq instead of the HDS Tablet??

Thanks in advanced!!!

To turn off the Memory seat link jut hold down both lock and unlock buttons until it blinks about 3 times, if it's just one solid blink then it is activated. If the were using the HDS tablet then it should ask them if its a switchblade key right on the screen. To program the FOB the memory has to be turned off and the HDS tablet has to have the most updated software. If not then it won't program.

No, only lock and unlock, plus panic.

Ok, I got the key to unlink, there were only 2 blinks.

So, the next step I should do is:
1. Have them update the software, turn off FOB memory and reprogram it again.

2. If that doesn't work, delete all keys and start over.

??

The dealership called me back and they are willing to try again with no charge to me. They also wanted information to verify that this key does indeed work with the Civic and the step-by-step procedure for the programming.

Any chance you can provide the programming procedure? They wanted me to drop by tomorrow and give it another go.

Thanks!!!

Here it is ..... the whole programming process is identical to any other 07-08 civic precedure. Also make sure your keys have coinciding Freq numbers I.E
CIVIC KEY:
FCC ID : N5F-S0084A
IC : 3248A-S0084A

MDX key W/ tailgate option:
FCC ID : N5F-0602A1A
IC : 3248A-0602A1A

I checked today at work and the 2 button LX key fob has the same FCC ID and IC freqs as the SI and EX key FOBS. So there is no reason why it shouldn't work. Just make sure the seat memory is off , Connect the HDS tablet to the DLC connector with vehicle on, Put in all pertenant info such such as mileage and model for the most part it will automatically do this. Then in the menu select Immobilizer. From this point select add key.... and the technician will perform the precedure after the procedure the HDS will ask the technician to program key FOB. It will display the question " Is this a switchblade Key FOB " . The technician will then click yes and then it will say when next screen displays click the lock or unlock button on the key fob and nothng else. Once the next screen is displayed and he does this the door lock with cycle o engage indicating that the key fob is programmed. I stress that he has to click lock or unlock and not both at the same time or one then the other. Just one button will suffice. after that it will ask to register key and after that point the key is now registered in the ECM/PCM and your done. Sorry to drag this on but this is a very simple process. We update our HDS whenever one is available , hopefully this dealership does the same . Good luck with your programming and let us know what happens.

Thank you for the detailed information!!!

I did check the FCC ID and the IC and the first part of those numbers are the same.

I really think it was because of the memory seat. Now that it is unlinked, it should work.

I'll let you know what happens.

My key blade is the only part that feels a little flimsy but my buddies stock vw flip key blade is also flimsy. So i'm not really worried about it.
