I think i have a way to test it out. take everything out of the spare key, put it in the ignition, and put the new key close to the ignition also. If the car turns on, that means the transponder works.

Take the suspected malfunctioned chip, put it right next to the ignition, put new-cut key in ignition and see if it starts.

To see if your transponder in the new switchblade key works, put it close to the immobolizer and use a spare key (gutted so you can see if the switchblade transponder works) to start the car. If the car starts with the switchblade's transponder, then your new key works. get it?
