Installed power door lock for 4 door DX

I did only one door to test (front passenger side). The existing cable on the car is short after mounting brackets and adapters. I had to buy another one from dealer (about $8.00) to splice it to make it longer, about 3 inches longer than the original one. See the pics and you'll understand.

Installed sheet metal (about 1mm thick) to mount cable adapter bracket (Ebay $12/pair kit) and motor (Ebay $50/4doors with 2 remotes). Make sure the cable adapter bracket is in angle. I tried the bracket straight and kinked the cable when I installed the door panel.

First cut the existing cable then remove the section that's connected to inside door lock mechanism (at door panel). Cut the new cable that's 3" longer than the section you just removed. Strip the cable coating to expose the wire. Then splice the wire.

I spliced the cables using electrical wire crimp connector. You can get them at Homedepot. There're 3 different colors for connectors, red, blue and yellow. Red is for small wires. I used red.

Before you splice, remove the red plastic coating of the connector. I used torch to burn it off. You will then see the bare metal part of the connector. Crimp the wires.

It very important that you measure and move of the wires before you crimp or cut. Best cut the cable longer for corrections.
