How easy is to change oil in the Civic XL-E ?

2009 model, 4 door automatic. EX-L model

I always change oil in my toyota van, would like to do the same and change oil and filter for my Civic.

Its super easy. 4 quarts of 5w-20, a new oil filter[not sure on the size]. I recommend a K&N oil filter.

I heard the oil filter is vertical down to the block and that it makes a mess when you remove.

It doesnt really make a mess as long as you drain all the oil before hand, but have the oil pan right under.

I don't know what an XL-E is but if it's not different from the other civics, it's very easy.

The oil filter is just right under the car, vertically down, absolutely no obstructions to take it off, and then the oil pan plug.

Make sure you leave the oil draining for a while if not it will drip down everywhere when you take the filter off.

...I think they mean EX-L..

yes, EX-L, I couldn't see the option to change the subject, but I entered the proper model in the body of the first post.
