DIY TWM Base Bushings / TWM short shift adapter

I did my base bushings, short shift adapter, boot and knob all at once. Only took picks for bushings and ss adapter. Don't mind the mess on the floor.
Sorry for some of the crappy pics my P&S is a POS.

Use a 14mm wrench to loosen the lock nut and remove the knob.

Pull up on the boot to remove the bezel.

Next you need to remove the forward section of the center console that surrounds the shifter. Pull up and back to remove it.

To make things easier I moved the center console back. In order to do you need to do the following...

Remove these two screws (philips head).

Remove the two screws under the armrest (also philips head)

Next you need to remove the panel that is under the glove box. Do this by pulling down and out (takes some force). Then remove the pop-clip.
You will also need to remove the pop-clip from the driver's side of the console as well.

Now you can move the console back to give yourself some room to work on the shifter.

Remove the clip from the shifter by undoing the metal clips.

You need to loosen and remove the three bolts (12mm).

Remove the metal sleeves from each bushing and then pry out the rubber bushings with a flat head screw driver.

I installed the bushings myself so it was kind of difficult to take pics at the same time... Anyway I did one bushing at a time making sure that the smaller machined side of the bushing was facing up when i placed it under the shifter. I then threaded one of the bolts into place and move to the second and third bushings.

Tighten everything back down and it should look just like it did before but the feel will now be dramatically improved.

Now with the pivot cup exposed, use the supplied tool from TWM and an open end wrench to remove the pivot cup.

Now you are going to need to take the pivot cup and put it on the short shift adapter. Apply a liberal amount of grease onto the head of the adapter and place the pivot cup on top. I used a screw-type wood clamp to press the pivot cup on the adapter.

Slide the adapter on and tighten with supplied allen key. Reconnect the shift cable to the shifter and secure with metal clip.

Follow the console removal steps in reverse to reinstall the console back into place. For the shift boot installation I used another users DIY from the forum.

Here is my new boot with TWM retainer.

Finished project. M1 Abrams in gun metal.

Now I understand the installation manual of the base bushings...

Do they worth the money? Or just the SS adapter would be enough?

Thx.
