Thanks to all
I have been planning on installing a sub for a while. Yesterday I spend many hours on the infrastructure. I ran my power wire, ground, ACC, & tapped the speakers for the LOC.
This site helped me find an ACC point (#35 in fuse box), and the polarization wires for the back speakers (+/-). I grounded near the left brake light (mass of grounds). I have a different way of running the power wire than going through the driver's compartment. I go from the battery, under the car along the brake lines & up through the trunk through some air vents behind the left rear tire. I know most would go through the cabin, but I hate penetratung the fire wall & pulling carpet (even though there were great how to's on this as well). I used a special exterior grade wire (with a very thick insulation). I have done this on my last 2 cars & it lasted with no problems for well over 7 years on each car. I wanted to get all of this done to make sure it worked before spending time making a box. I have an old bandpass box that I am using right now. I plan on making a box similar to the JL stealth box (in the pocket behind the right rear tire in the trunk). Can't afford the JL @ $750+ for a 10" box... no matter how good it probably sounds. No picts now because it is very messy. I might post after the final install. Anyway, I wanted to thank all of those that post DIYs. With the use of the handy search tool, they are very helpful. Thanks again, Markitect |
