help with removing panel on back of front seat?

im trying to put a bass shaker(also called buttkickers) behind the front seats in my lx sedan 07, and i thought id ask if i should be taking off the panel behind the seat, it says theres an airbag in it and last thing i need is to set it off and send a screwdriver through my face in the process. i wanted to put it in the lower back area.

any advice on how or how not to remove the panel? i couldnt find a DIY removal or diagram of this area.

Here's a pdf that will get you there: http://www.8thcivic.com/Seats.pdf

It takes a bit of faith and some pain in the hands to get the top hooks free. You don't really get near the airbag, so no worries there. The biggest pain is trying to keep the plastic holders at the bottom of the seat from breaking, requiring new ones. If you are just investigating, I recommend leaving them in place and just pulling the top of the panel back. In the document, he says you'll need to replace them, but I managed to get mine back in place. It would be much easier, though, to scrap them, install new ones in the panel and press them into place. Eventually, you'll see what I mean.
Also, if you are going to get back in there subsequent times, you can leave the top hooks sort of hanging onto the seat cloth temporarily to avoid having to keep getting them out of their slots.
When putting it all back together, make sure your side hooks are all lined up correctly before you start popping them back in.
Sorry for all the words. It's kind of a learn-by-doing thing, but I hope you learn from my experience.

thanks so much!! googled to hell and back again and couldnt find these pics! unfourtunately the insert in the back is plastic and wont be good for what i was hoping, im going to put two metal bars under the seat to mount it and hopefully give some good vibration , this saved me probably an hour in time and whatever new clips wouldve cost , ill post up some pics once i put them in, probably not till friday though. thanks again

Looking at the pdf again, I realized that he didn't say you'd necessarily need to get new fasteners for the bottom, but rather you can't get them out without breaking them until later in the total disassembling of the seat.

Good luck with the ass shakers.

installing bars under my seats became far too much of a pain to do, so i screwed em into the plastic in the back of the seats, works fine but they arent very sensitive :/ amped them thru high level inputs till i get a new Headunit, overall i like em though, and they just fit with the panel reattached.. however i couldnt get the clips out at the bottom, smashed them out with a hammer, and used zip ties to re-secure the bottom
