Question Can the navi say street names?

The only other navigation system I've used has been a cheap Garmin I got with an Enterprise rental. That would actually say street names but the navi in my Si doesn't. It says when to turn and then to follow "the road." The only times it will say any names is when there's a route number of a highway. It will display the name of the street on the screen, but won't say it. I went through the manual and played with all the settings and couldn't find anything for this. I'd find it odd if it doesn't have the capability when a $400 portable unit does.

Sorry if this has been covered, I searched and couldn't find anything.

I've noticed that when you have the voice command setting on MAX, then it will say the street names. Test it out, let us know. The only problem is that it talks more often.

Looks like that did it. It doesn't say everything, but it'll say a decent amount now. Except now the damn thing never shuts up, haha. Oh well, I guess you can't have it both ways.

I'm curious about the Navi's abilities to say Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, Coplay, and Conshohocken correctly.

I haven't used the navi to get to any of those areas, at least not yet. It does a decent enough job with Bethlehem Pike, which surprised me. It was off enough to get a chuckle out of my wife, but good enough to know what it meant. I wonder how it would handle Schuylkill, heh.

haha. I didn't even think of Schuylkill. It'll probably say "shoi kill." Bethlehem pike must've been entertaining. I have a Garmin C340 and I swear it doesn't say "state road" it says "stage road" and 50 and 15 sounds the same. Confusing if I'm doing too much at once and I'm in an unfamiliar area.

Haha, I know what you mean about the Garmins. I think that's the model I rented, I know it was the 300 series. Our hotel was by a street named Pear Ridge Road and it would pronounce it like Pay, Ridgeroad. That was good for a laugh.

Apparently he thinks navi users can't read. It's not like reading is necessary for reading threads on an internet forum. Oh wait...
