2009 Civic VP cruise control notes

In addition to the links and notes here for aftermarket installation:
Adding Cruise Control - Is it possible?
it should be noted that in the 2009 model Civic VP, the radio connectors are reversed from the photo in the pdf download instructions. I have marked the location of the VSS wire in the attached photo

The instructions call for connecting the blue cruise control wire to the blue wire on the large connector - this is inaccurate. The blue cruise control wire connects to the blue wire with silver dots. It can get confusing because there are a total of three blue wires on 2 connectors.

I found the space to the left of the steering wheel to be a convenient place to put the modules

note the piece of rubber vacuum hose cut length-wise to cover the sharp edge of the top brace to protect the wires.

I did not connect the NSS (neutral safety switch) wire to the transmission; it would have required considerably more dismantlement of the intake system than I was willing to endure to access the connector. I called Thecruisecontrolstore and spoke to their tech, Michael Fox, and he said that they do not attach the wire either as the unit will still function without it, and they tell the owner that should he/she somehow get into neutral while the cruise control is operating then tap on the brake to immediately disengage the system. I consider there to be no compromise in safety without the wire.

Lastly, the control module in the new kit is different; the wires now come out the top rather than from behind. I liked this arrangement better for it negated the need to drill a hole in the dash or to mount it obtrusively beneath. I choose to locate it on top of the steering wheel cover for aesthetics and safe access without taking my eyes from the road. This keeps the LED in direct view as well.
