It's not required, but it'll cut your times down by a lot.
If you don't remove the bumper, you're going to have to undo the wheel well and unhook the things at the bottom to get to the resonator box. I removed the bumper during my first installation and didn't during my second one because there was no more resonator box.

so i can do the entire install without removing the bumper? is there any cutting required? i've overheard that the k20 cai requires cutting. i'd like to avoid removing the bumper if possible. would you happen to have a copy of the instructions that you could post? i'm looking into purchasing a cai however i want to make sure its something i can install without bringing it to the dealer. besides with the weather here in canada i'm worried to run it in the winter meaning i'll have to be able to un/install as needed.
