Key Lock for glove compartment

On any civic models, the glove compartments do not have a key lock to it which I hope at least someone has attempted to add one themselves. I did not find a DIY to doing so. Therefore, if anyone can give me some tips or a link to a DIY (and pics if they have it).

hope it goes well when u do it. I would love to see how it turns out. Are you using a different key or did you get a locksmith?

why not just put your valuables into the trunk and then lock the trunk release with your car key? It becomes an oversized locked glove compartment

cant u just go into the trunk through the back seats either way? or does the trunk lock close that off too?

Not sure about the U.S civic's but, the canadian models do not have any latches inside the cabin. There is one pull latch for each half of the seat in the trunk.

same on US models, only latches in the trunk.

i have also wondered about adding a glove box lock though, sometimes i don't want to have to go through the trouble of locking little things in my trunk

I think the only way to not spend too much money is to use a separate key since going to a locksmith to make a locker the same as the civic key will be expensive.

Just bumping this hoping someone has successfully added a lock to their glove box.

It's sad how 10+ year old integras had locks and a 2011 civic does not! I can understand the center console but the glove box??

Could someone rescue those of us that would love this mod/DIY?
