DIY: Tail Light Tint

Hey guys, i joined this forum a couple months back and always wanted to make a DIY for other on this site. So this is my first DIY so take it easy ite! I know it is kind of simple, but you'll be suprised at how many other people are confused about this... (like me). I got these tints from 8thcivicfest and decided to put them on my Claire and make a DIY in the process. I own a TW r18 4dr and i love it to death, personally think these tints make the car! Thanks for checking out my DIY in advance!

things you will need:

First you will need the actual car that you want the tint on:

then you will need the tint. i got mine from the 8th civic meet that just passed. i believe its from graffixpressions. (ask jordan aka qshooter) either way you need one to do this DIY.

then a spring water bottle filled 4/5ths of the it with some cold water. and 2-3 drops of soap. be careful with what soap you use because too much can hurt you paint, like dishwasher dont use it, use hand soap because if its soft on your skin, it will less likely hurt you cars paint.

First: wipe down the tail light with a glass cleaner wipe or some wet cloth or paper towel to get the dust and debris off.

Second: shake you bottle of mixed water and soap until a little foamy. and wait like literally 15 seconds for some of the bigger bubbles to go away

Third: slowly pour the solution from above the tinting area on the tail light and let it drip down the car. pour in a left to right motion to cover the tail light.

Fourth: quickly peel off the tint and be sure to try not to touch the inside, sticky part of it. hold in a concave shape in one hand

Fifth: shake up the bottle again but not as hard and pour some of the solution on the sticky side of the tint.

Sixth: carefully flip the tint over and place it on the tail light, like so. you are probably wondering how is this goin to wrk but trust me it does and its easier to maneuver the tint when its on your tail light.

Seventh: gently smooth out the bubbles from underneath the tint, this will make it easier to move the tint around w/o it movin all over the place. then when in desired place leave it alone and walk away for a few minutes.

Last step: dry the outside very very very gently by padding it down and letting all the excess solution be absorbed. if you want you can smooth it out more but beware it might move!

That's All Folks! now you can repeat the same steps for the other tail lights and this is wat your end product should look like:

this is another pic of it w/o just for some comparison:

take a step bak and enjoy you 8thgen!
haven't seen how it looks at night and with the signals and reverse gear on but will check it out and post pics maybe even a vid!

thanks again for checking out my DIY: Tail Light Tint

*EDIT*
i went out and took more pics of the tail lights with the blinker and reverse light on just for the helluva it. check it out:

Nice diy, looks good. To bad it's illegal here not to have WHITE as your reverse lights.

My solution? Is not to buy anything from him again. My tails are fine the way they are. Thanks.

easier way is to get a large pan or something and fill it with soap and water. and make sure your fingers are wet so you dont get any fingerprints on the vinyl
