Talking DIY Guage Pod

Step 1.
Using wood, Cut out the shape of the front panel where guages will sit and a base.

Step 2.
Cut two angled wooden posts to hold the wooden panel to the base

Step 3.
Glue or screw the posts to the base and then the panel to the posts. Note: Make sure when designing the pod your mold can be pulled apart!

Step 4. Now use some baking clay on the wood to form the pod into the desired shape (fill in gaps) and procede to step 5.
Another option - Place a stretchy cloth over the pod and adhere it to the backside of the base and then apply fiber glass resign the cloth so it retains the desired shap you want the pod. Two to three layers of fiberglass should be fine. Cut out holes and install and you are done.

Step 5.
Throw it in the oven and bake until clay hardens.

Step 6. Heat ABS plastic until plastic stretches down about an inch and a half and vacuum form it. Note: You can make metal brackets to hold the plastic to heat the plastic in an oven and build a box with holes in it attached to a vacuum cleaner to vacuum form it. If anyone is interested in anything or need more details let me know and I'll post more info.

Step 7. Demold and cut out your pod and sand edges and cut out the holes for the pod and install.

Note: You can use this method to make custom parts for yout car!!
