A/C during Defrost Override - How To

I have used this on previous Civics, and assume it works on most 8th gen ones as well. Perhaps someone can report back...

Do you hate your Civic's A/C turning on automatically when you use defrost? I do. I sometimes just want to keep outside air blowing at the windows and that's enough to keep them from fogging without sapping engine power using the compressor. This worked in the previous 2 generations of Hondas:

Turn Car Off
Turn Temperature Knob To Full Blue (All the way to the left -
Counter-Clock Wise)
Turn Vent Knob To Off (All the way to the left - Counter-Clock Wise)
Hold Down Air Recirculation Button As Well As A/C Button
Keep Both Buttons Depressed and Start Car
Keep Both Buttons Depressed for 7 Seconds
*AC LIGHT SHOULD BLINK*

You will now have control of your A/C regardless of what setting you
are in, to revert back, simply repeat the procedure.

Hope it works! I'll try it on my car once I get it back (a drunk man on a motorcycle hit it....)

Sorry, I searched for all forms of A/C, Defrost, Defroster, override, cut-off, hack and any other words I could think of... I couldn't find it.

:-)

Your instrucions didn't work but these did

Step 1: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (you do NOT have to start the engine).

Step 2: Turn the fan knob to the OFF position.

Step 3: Switch to the FACE ONLY vent mode.

Step 4: Turn the temp knob to the COLDEST setting.

Step 5: Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

Step 6: Hold down the RECIRCULATION and A/C buttons simultaneously.

Step 7: While holding those two buttons, turn the ignition switch to the ON position again.

Step 8: Keep holding the buttons, and the yellow light on the RECIRCULATION button will begin to flash after a few seconds.

Step 9: Keep holding them down until the yellow light stops flashing/goes solid, then release them.

Step 10: Test it: Turn the fan back on. With the radio off and the fan on the lowest setting, switch to either DEFROST mode and listen carefully for the condenser fan to kick on. Now, push the A/C button. You should hear the condenser fan shut off, which means the hack was successful. If it doesn't shut off, then something wasn't done correctly.
