DIY Rear spoiler paint

I saw someone painted their rear bumper so i decided to do it and see what it would look like

WHAT YOU NEED
1. A car with a lip you want to paint
2. 30 mins of you life
3. You need some paint, in this case i used krylon semi-flat black, and adhesion promoter
4. Some sanding paper, I used scotch brite
5. Tape
6. paper

1. You start like this

I sand it with scotch brite, wipe it down and cleaned it

2. Tape off the area you want to paint like this

I used a thin 5mm tape and marked off the area, then went over it with a thicker tape

3. Once you got your lines straight, cover some of the car to protect from paint

4. Spray adhesion promoter and then color. Give it a few coats and let dry and then you have this

looks like the tape was not bubbled out cause the paint looks all fuzzy. did you even use any clear coat? acid rain will wash that off like nothing

Its not fuzzy, its the camera, the line is clear cut if you see it in person, i used 3m 5mm tape and then overlay it 3m green tape and it came out clean, i did the same thing when i was painting my rims too.

I didnt clear coat it because i dont want it to be shiny, and i dont have any flat clear coat, if it chips or something i'll just repaint, its no biggie to me so its all good. and besides the paint that i used is suppose to be fade resistant and etc. If it fades or chip i'll keep you guys posted

I live in washington so acid rain is very minor, how bad is acid rain over where you live?

^ if you used a single stage paint it'll be fine..

I would be more worried about the muffler heating that paint up(if it was just a reg base coat paint).. But a single stage would handle it no problem..

As long as it has uv protectants in it, it should last you. Rain shouldn't have any effect on it at all.. Also, its FLAT BLACK lol, that's the easiest touch up one could ask for. Another easy diy mod that brings out the beauty of the oem shell..

I never was a fan of the HFP kit.. Kudo's on this man...

Thought I'd come back and let you guys know how the paint is holding up. well i drove through snow, slush, rain, sun shine, hail, foggy days, rain, and lots more rain since i live in washington, i drove through pretty much every weather and guess what....No chips or fading or scratching, i looks just like i painted it yesterday. the heat from the exhaust did not even effect the paint at all. Its still semi flat shiny and fresh looking
