Painted grill for sedan
Just wanted to share with you my first “custom” paint job.
![]() From day one I didn’t like the chrome grill that my Civic has. I thought about replacing it by grill from coupe, but unfortunately coupe’s bumper shape is a little bit different from sedan’s and it doesn’t fit. So, I bought aftermarket grill (35 CAD + tax). Have to say that the part fits good, though it’s not OEM. The real pain was to strip off chrome paint. It’s not even paint, but sprayed coating on copper base. With razor, inch by inch, eventually I stripped it. After that I sprayed it with adhesion promoter (usually used for bumper pre-primer work), 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of gun metal and satin finish. Look at the result. Last edited by IPAuto; 03-27-2009 at 02:08 PM. |
