Wink custom Air Scoop for stock R18 airbox

I made this for my R18 out of a black funnel and one zip tie in 5 minutes. It acts to scoop and direct air to the stock suck location and serves as a heat shield as well. It looks very incognito in real life and functions like a dream. With my drop in K&N air filter my stock intake sounds like an quiet jet engine. My girlfriend just bought an new V-6 Accord coupe and is jealous of the sound. She says, " Can you make my car sound like an airplane too?"

I'm crafty with those heavy duty bandage scissors that will cut a penny in half. I took a $1.50 long black transmission funnel and cut off the bottom skinny half then cut in down the middle and tucked, wrapped and wedged it around the stock suck horn and radiator reservoir bottle and just trimmed it down a bit to fit perfect. It fit very tight and secure but I still put on a zip tie to the top of the battery box so it won't ever move at all. The airhorn shape just amplifies the suck sound a little bit in an audibly pleasing kind of way.

side question. if i make my own intake will it pass visual inspection for smog checks even if they are made from OEM parts that are all cut up and stuff?

It depends what you do and how much you do??? The emissions shouldn't change as long as your CAT/MAF stay put.

Wink youtube sound clip

YouTube - 0110091054

Here's a quick sound clip from my cell phone. It doesn't accurately reflect the whirring jet-like sound it makes in real life but I guess a bad quality sound clip is better than nothing right

Did you notice the "jet" sound with just the kn before the scoop?
