Dent on trunk area

I was backing up and accidently hit a car behind me. Good thing nothinghappened to their trunk but now I have a dent on my 2004 honda civic ex.
The dent is on the trunk area. I emailed a picture to a paintless dent removal place here and they said that

"Ms. Sims,
we're glad you wish to know why as the more informed our customers are the better!
Based on the pictures you provided, the damaged area runs across the license plate pocket and the edge of the panel which is very stiff. It is not impossible to repair, however the cost to do so and the end result are just simply impractical. The time involved would drive the price upwards toward $600 dollars. The body shop would simply replace the panel and repaint it for close to, if not less, than that.
Often our determination is based not only on ability but on cost as we want what is best for our customers.
Thank you for your inquiry. If you have further questions please don't hesitate to contact me."

I cant afford to pay that much. Is there anyway I could get this removed a little bit myself??? I mean it to doesnt look that bad but they said it would be hard to remove.

A month ago my car has already been to a body shop because someone hit the side of my car. It was over 1000 dollars but my deductible was $500 so I had to pay 500.

the thing is..is that it would be hard to use a rubber mallet and body hammer.

i dont know how to explain it but the area inside theres something covering it that gets in the way of hitting it to the surface. i dont know if you would have to unscrew it or what.

i think it can be banged out though really. the dent isnt that bad

thanks for the suggestions
