DRL into parking lights/tunr signals

1. Is there a way to wire up the DRL to run only when the parking lights are on?

2. Is there an amber bulb that you can replace the DRL with?

I want to replace the DRL with amber bulbs and use them as parking lights/turn signals... Any ideas?

1. why?
2. the DRL are just the high beam bulbs running on low power, so unless you buy amber high beam bulbs, then no

theres no way, unless you completely butcher your wiring, but even with that you get the results you want.

do what i did, disable them.

it kicks on the highbeams at 40% lightout, you DRLs. if you remove the fuse they will not go on everytime you lower you e-brake. i kinda got tired of that orange and didnt want the drl's on everytime i shut my lights off and stood in one spot

I NEVER use my high beams, so I forgot the DRL were the high beams.

So here's a new approach.

Does anyone know if there's room (from behind) to drill a hole and mount an amber signal bulb inside the high beam housing? (without removing the high beam bulb)

I'm thinking about pulling the DRL fuse so they'll be disabled. Then putting an amber bulb in the housing (with the high beam bulb). I want to wire that amber bulb with the turn signal for each side. I'll use a relay to make sure that bulb is disabled when the high beams are on.

This way I'll have parking lights and turn signals on both sides of the headlight. Hope that makes sense to you guys.

sure theres room. you would have to bake the headlights and open them up as if you were clearing the corners so you can get rid off all the shaving. then use those mini bulbs they use in europe for drl's. as long as you feel comfortable baking and drilling the headlights and splicing the wires . go for it i think it will look BADass.

I'm not at all worried about installing the light or the wiring. That's easy.

I've never been too keen on baking a new set of lights. I'm worried that I'd either A) burn/melt the lense or B) they'll end up leaking. If I go through with it, I might try cleaning the housing out with a shop vac first, if that doesn't work I'll be forced to bake them...

try that shopvac, i didnt think of that. but it will definately be cool. and led would be nice but it wont match your turn signal therefore stick to a reg mini bulb. amber in color and that will look smoking. if you go ahead and do it snap up pics of the process and night pics as well ill keep this subscription. also are you going to wire it so that they go on with the parking light and blink on off with the signals? or just to blink with the signals. my first suggestion would be cool and if you project is succesfull i may go ahead and do also

I'm want them to work exactly like the stock signals, so they'll act as parking lights and turn signals. But they'll be disabled if the high beams are on. I probably won't mess with them for a while. Too much going on until after the new year. Plus I'm trying to convince my wife to let me trade my '08 ex in for a '09 si. But then I'll just do it to the si. We'll see what happens.

In my 08 fg2 there are a couple 7.5 amps in there including fog lights and tpms.
