Exclamation push button start.

so who want's to do an OEM S2000 push button start in one of the 8th gens?
i'm thinking about doing it but i know nothing about wiring....from what i've read on clubrsx.com it's pretty much a DIY...but i'm not one to well with electricals.
who's willing to jump on it?

there are a couple companies selling genuine s2000 starter kits with the relay, wires and everything else u'll need...it's pretty much a kit...you just have to do ur wiring thingy...less than $100.

why?
1. looks cool.
2. should be there in the first place....JDM + EDM have it...why don't we?
3. haven't though of more than 2 yet

so who's willing to do it?

Sicky I know I read in some thread about someone that either did it or planned it out. I'll take a look around. It might have been on ToV, CSi, or elsewhere.

i'd be willing to be the guinea pig. I wonder if that will help or hurt resale value though.

Security is a big issue - those 40bit codes are easy to pick up and crack with a laptop. Plus wouldn't it be easier getting the parts from a Euro civic that already has the push start vs an S2000?

explain what you mean by a 40 bit code. So the push button does have a security feature?

i'm sure the civic use the same part as the s2000. Unless honda wants to waste money to make another that pretty much does the same thing.

i don't think u bypass any security features...if that was the case, it would be saying the s2000 or current overseas civics are slouches security wise, which i doubt.

u'd still need your key...u'll have to turn it to the ignition or second switch...only then will the push button work...without your key u can't use the feature....unless ofcourse u wired it some F*cked up way...

it's kinda corny when u think of it...but unlike MB or Lexxus we don't have smart keys or cards etc. where we can just walk in and start without puting the key in the ignition.

s2000, current civic, bmw 3 series and a few others still need the key in the ingnition to work the start button....

40 bit thing? what's that? and if it was that easy i'd think it would be just as easy to get your key code when u use ur keyless entry or start ur car with ur key with the laptop or computer u speak of....don't think a push button start that doesn't eliminate any of ur security features would make it any easier...explain to me if i'm wrong though.

Ok NOW what's the point of push button? So basically it's all for looks cuz you still have to put the key into the ignition, turn it on partially, then push the button. That's just worthless then. My aunts benz had it where if the key was near you could start it up. Is there a way you can do that?

well seeing as we don't drive high end luxury cars...it's a lot cheaper to do it that way...one of those benz or lexxus smart keys/cards can cost over 300 dollars...
our keys are already pretty expensive as is...

I think your missing my point though. My point is why have a push start button if you still have to basically turn on the car with your key?

Yeah its a sweet idea! but your already 3/4starting the car... but then again why would the s2000 have that ...So it must be attracting some people to it.

Its a great idea..but even better if there was a way to read a new key with a transmitter/signal

Would i do it either way? Id say yes!

Its a waste of time. It's cool at first but it gets old having to put the key in and push it forward and then push another button to start the car.

I had one in my Celica back in 2000 and disconected it shortly after installing it. I left it in the car though for the looks factor for car shows.

lol at you leaving it in there...good one...

on another note.
yeah it's pretty wack how it works...but +1 in points always...

there should be a way to do it where all u have to do it put the key in and not have to turn it...key in = completed circuit = ready to start by button...

i'm sure in time someone will get to it.

Nissan is going in this direction. I hear the new 07 Altima's start button will have this feature.

Honda needs to start using the smart key system like toyota does. My dad drives a prius and its totally badass. YOu can start the car with the "key" in your pocket its a real neat system.
