Since my 06 civic didnt come with the AUX jack I desided to purchase it from collegehillshonda.com and install it myself rather than paying an arm and leg at the dealer!
Right before installing it I thought to my self why not do a DIY at the same time so the folks that dont have the AUX jack yet could use this as a reference. You can also use http://www.collegehillshonda.com/ins...an/auxjack.pdf for the instalation instrauctions This is my first DIY so bare with me. So here it goes... This is what the kit included [IMG] [/IMG]Tools that are reguired, drill, drill bits, push pin, hole cutter, screw drivers, ruler or measuring tape, face shield, eye protection gogles [IMG] [/IMG]So the next step is to go to your car and if u have an auto tranny like me u can follow my method or if u have manual you can follow Ethlar's DIY for popping the center console next to the shifter. Center Console removal for Aux input install So you out your E-brake on and shift to neutral, then simply pry open the panel where I marked it in red u do the same on the other side and pull up, the panel should pop out very easy, there are 4-5 clips, so simply pull up the panel where u pryed it out and the panel will come out. Then put the E-brake of, shift into park and take the key out of the ignition. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]The male plug that is wraped with blue tape is the AUX jack (also can be seen in the above picture) so cut the blue tape and free the AUX connector [IMG] [/IMG]So now take the Auxilary jack and put it inside the Auxilary Trim and scew in the 2 screws that were provided in the kit. [IMG] [/IMG]Next Step is the most important one since you will be marking with a push pin the holes that you are about to drill next so take your time and be persise as possible. The back of your console is already pre marked for you. [IMG] [/IMG]Next where you push pined the holes that you are about to drill drill them first with 3mm drill bit and then the same holes with 5mm drill bit (be carefull dont make the holes bigger than the screws since they are supposed to srew inside the hole and not fall threw) 3mm [IMG] [/IMG]5mm [IMG] [/IMG]Next you are about to cut a 30mm hole in the middle of the console in the pixs above it says where the hole will be. (be carefull dont confuse the holes since you will make a hole only once and there is no going back) [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Next screw in the 4 screws into the holes that you drilled previously and make sure that the AUX plug is secure and not wabaly then plug in the green plug in the back of the AUX Jack. Next use the 2 cussion tapes that were provided in the kit and wrap them abound the AUX wire strating of the left side of the green connector and moving to the right.(The back of the cussion tapes is sticky) [IMG] [/IMG]Next take the whole center console and go to your car. Connect the male and female AUX wire connectors, then use your 4 zip ties(I used only 3) Zip tie the whole connector to the 2 existing wires that you can see in the pix and then use the other 2 zip ties to tie the AUx wire with the wire that is above (horizantal wire) you can see it in the pix bellow. Then Put your E- brake on, put your shifter into neutral and put back the center console in opposite way that you took it out. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]Ps. I did not disconnect the battery like it stated in collegehillshonda web site, I just simply took the key out of the ignition so the battery wont be drawing any current and when the step came to put the center console in I put the key in the ignition, put the E- brake on and shift into neutral. And finally Enjoy your Music
